Learning, Engagement and Well-Being Go Hand in Hand

As we come to the end of Term 1, it’s been a fantastic, and very full start to the year at Sacred Heart. Classrooms are well and truly up and running, routines are established, and it has been great to see students settling in, building relationships, and engaging so positively in their learning, particularly our new students and families joining the Sacred Heart community. It has also been a wonderful start to the year under the leadership of Mrs Ferrari, with a real sense of energy across our school.

Some highlights from this term include:

  • First term of school for our Preps
  • Opening of our new playground
  • Year 6 Canberra Camp
  • Year 5 Camp Rumbug
  • Shrove Tuesday fundraiser for Caritas
  • NAPLAN
  • Dendy Swimming Carnival
  • Dendy Cricket
  • Harmony Day
  • Open Days
  • Parent teacher conversations
  • Athletics Carnival
  • Easter Bonnet Parade
  • Stations of the Corss

…to name just a few!

We know that when students feel happy, safe, and connected, everything else follows. This sense of belonging builds confidence, encourages students to take risks in their learning, and supports them to keep going when things feel challenging.

Across the term, there has been a strong focus on consistency in teaching and learning. By working closely together as a staff, we are building a shared approach across the school so students know what to expect and can focus on their learning. This consistency is already making a noticeable difference in student engagement and confidence. At the heart of everything we do is a focus on helping students feel known, valued, and supported. When this is in place, we see students more willing to participate, more connected to their peers, and more positive about school.

At the beginning of the week, it was impressive to see a full academic schedule still being rolled out, with students engaged and focused across all areas of learning. As Term 1 draws to a close, it has been lovely to take a moment to celebrate all that has been achieved. We are very proud of our students and the way they have embraced the start of the year. Thank you, as always, for your continued support it truly makes a difference to our students and our community. On Wednesday afternoon, we gently took the foot off the pedal, easing into a calm pace as we prepare to celebrate Easter on Thursday.
