Class Expectations

Welcome back to term 2! Our class has returned focused and ready to learn! Our day 1 goal was to set our classroom up with high expectations by establishing success criteria  about what it means to be a respectful listener.

HOW TO BE A RESPECTFUL LISTENER

Success Criteria

  • pay attention to the person speaking
  • participate in class discussions
  • do your best to ignore distractions
  • wait for your turn to speak
  • use fidget tools responsibly

This criteria will be used to redirect and remind ourselves of our role in building a positive learning community

Literacy

Our class novel this term is Storm Boy, a classic novel that many parents may be familiar with. Storm Boy includes some unacceptable language when referring to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Students will be made aware that this language was common when the text was originally published but is no longer acceptable to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Maths

This term we are participating in the 2026 Great Times Tables Race. This program is an online program to build fluency in multiplication and division facts. It is individualised to meet each students ability, providing the appropriate level of challenge. Student information such as first and last names and mathematical data will be collected when registering for the program. If you do not wish your child to participate in this online program please contact me via the school office by Friday 24th of April.  Please read the parent information below for more details regarding the program.
