Equestrian

- Mrs Nerrida Prosser

It's been another busy week at the Equestrian Centre, with lesson sizes visibly smaller as Year 9 students make their way to Vietnam. Our new lesson horse, Mic, continues to be an excellent ride for both beginners and intermediate riders, and he has begun to introduce some of our horsemanship students to jumping.

Congratulations to Zoe Weinberg, Year 12, and her horse, Beachgoer, on their foray into 1* eventing last weekend at the Equestrian Victoria Spring Horse Trials. Zoe is jumping heights up to 1.05m, which requires a lot of skill and courage! Zoe went double clear on the cross country, which was a phenomenal effort.

Further, congratulations go to Murine Reilly, who has again been nominated for Junior Sportswoman of the Year through the Junior Sporting Association. This is Muirne’s third consecutive year of nominations. Additionally, she was again invited to form part of the Equestrian Victoria Interschool team for the Working Hunter Class at the Nationals this September. Still, Year 12 commitments prevented her from accepting the position.

This is a reminder that we have two fabulous clinics in the next few weeks.

Jason Dins is a respected professional dressage rider, trainer, and coach. He has a positive coaching style and can adapt it to suit riders' understanding. He coaches dressage to riders of all ages, abilities, and disciplines on a wide range of horses. He will be at the College on the afternoon of Friday, September 20, and the morning of Saturday, September 21.

Lessons for College students are $125pp or $85pp shared (2 riders) and can be booked via https://events.humanitix.com/jason-dins-dressage-lessons

Bookings close Friday, 13 September, at 3 pm.

Paul Williams, jump instructor, has agreed to return to College to follow up on lessons given in July. Students who attended last time found his lessons valuable in both instructional models and content. These lessons will be open to students and the wider public and will take place on October 12 and 13. Bookings can be made via https://events.humanitix.com/paul-williams-jumping-clinic-october-2024

Looking ahead, the Warrnambool Show Interschool Jumping and Dressage is coming up on October 25. College team riders are encouraged to get their entries in early via Warrnambool Show Interschool Dressage and Show Jumping Event 2024 | Equestrian Interschool Victoria
