Boarder of the Week – Ebony Leishman

Our boarder of the week is Ebony Leishman. Ebony is new to boarding this semester and has overcome adversity and looks upon boarding as an opportunity. We’re proud of Ebony and how she has created her own routine, made friends, and enjoyed all parts of College life. A surprising highlight of Ebony’s has been the Wellbeing Week this term at school, where students organised activities every day, something her old school never really did. Well done, Ebony.

VCE Musical Soiree – Will Mackellar

The talent across the Boarding House is something to behold; our excellence in drama, sport, academics and music is certainly a big part of our boarders’ strength. Practice occurs regularly on piano, drums, and guitar. Boarders practice in their rooms, classrooms, and cabins from time to time. I certainly appreciate the amount of practice required for music success. Will diligently attended to complex musical compositions and worked over weeks, months, and years to perfect the final outcome.

Will Mackellar has been boarding since Year 7, and his musical talent is nothing short of amazing. As a musician focused on percussion, and particularly the Marimba, William has been taught by Blake Hansen over the past five years. This week, our Director of Music, Mr Ben Hiscock, organised a Musical Soiree’ with VCE students Daisy Henry, Nicholas Hoskyns and Will Mackellar performing. Will’s talent blew me away, and Blake was so very proud. From a shy young man to a confident public speaker and performer, William is to be praised for his hard work and skill in percussion.

Congratulations to all involved in the Musical Soiree.

Boardo BBQ

Last week Josh and the catering team had taken the short window of opportunity f more pleasant weather to re-introduce our Boardo BBQ’s. The BBQ is so much more than just a BBQ. It is a time for the entire boarding house to get together, mingle with each other and socialise. A new venue for our BBQ was selected this time around and it was a hit. With staff serving our boarders, music going, and different year levels chatting, it was wonderful to see our boarding family enjoying their time over dinner. Although we are all enjoying this rain for our farmer community, we also look forward to some warmer and sunnier weather in Term 4 for future BBQ opportunities.
