Around the School

Prep C

This term in HASS, Prep C has been investigating the question, What are places like and what makes them special? Through hands-on projects and class discussions, students have explored what makes a place special, how different places can be special for different reasons, and the importance of caring for these places.

As part of our learning, we looked at a bird's-eye view of our school and walked to different special places around the school grounds, thinking about why they are important and how we care for them. We even visited Prep M’s classroom to compare its features with our own. To deepen their understanding, students have been creating maps and models of these special places, reflecting on why they are special and how they are cared for.

Recently, students built models of their bedrooms using materials from our classroom, guided by their own hand-drawn maps. In the coming weeks, they will have the opportunity to choose their own special place, draw a map, and create a model to present to the class.

We look forward to seeing the creative ways students represent and share their special places with their peers!
