Around the School

Library News (Ms Kat)

A warm welcome back to school and to the library for students.

Scholastic Book Club Issue 7 went home this week with students.

It is a BIG issue - with lots on offer.  There are $3 and $6 books available, lots of graphic novels  - as well as the opportunity to use the $5 voucher from the last issue if you ordered.

Thank you to everyone who orders from scholastic - it really helps support the school and the library!  The cut off date for these orders is the 24th of October - any questions, please let me know.

Issue 8 comes out in November with a quick turnaround. It does have a lot of Christmas present ideas - however there's no harm in starting early with issue 7!!

“All 200m runner please report to the starting marque”, the speaker boomed…” I tried to get into the right mindset whilst stretching”... “ I had a really good start around the bend, but once we hot the straight, it was like running into a wall!.... My calves were  burning…I crossed the line second!  Written by Isaac

My experience at long jump was amazing, the people were welcoming and the instructions were clear. The other people at long jump were nice to talk to while waiting for others at the start.  I was quite nervous …  Written by Huy

Ready Set Go! My 1500m race was underway. I started off with a strong jog. I was about fourth place, but it was getting progressively more tiring. At the middle of my second lap I was exhausted but knew I could run harder and caught up. I ended up coming 8th in total.

… I know for sure everyone regardless of the setbacks had tried to the best of their abilities. Everyone contributed to our 6th place in the overall score. Written by Anna

Throughout the entire day, everyone was cheering for our school, no matter what place they came! I had competed in 12/13 discus, I did not come first but I was still proud of myself…   Written by Poppy

We would like to thank Poppy for making our St Mary's placards to cheer our athletes on. Poppy you may well have a future in advertising!
