Basketball

Congratulations to our Years 7/8 boys who were very successful at the Diocesan Basketball Gala Day at Broadmeadow Stadium last Thursday making it to the Grand Final. This is an excellent achievement as many of the Diocesan schools play in regular competitions. Throughout the day our Years 9/10 boys enjoyed a competitive day with mixed results, with some impressive wins. Our school courts are very popular at recess and lunch and are certainly contributing to the development of our Basketball level of skill. The girls played in their Gala Day on Thursday 5 September. They also enjoyed a very competitive day under the coaching of Ms Watkins and Sullivan B. A big thank you to Jack T who volunteered to referee and Sullivan B who coached on both days.

Athletics

On Wednesday 21 August our students enjoyed a day of competition at the Diocesan Athletic Carnival at Glendale Athletic Complex. Amidst hot conditions, St Joseph’s recorded excellent results. We are very proud to announce that Ruby B in 8Red was named 14yr old Athletic Champion after recording wins in the 100m, 200m, Long Jump, Triple Jump and High Jump. A number of students have been selected to attend the NSWCCC Athletic Carnival at Homebush on Monday 16 September. School Athletics

At last Friday’s assembly we presented our school Athletic Champions, runners up, record breakers and King & Queen of the track their trophies. The Hunter captains had the privilege of making the presentations after Hunter was the winner of this year's Athletic Carnival. This year, Hunter have been extremely successful winning all three of our carnivals - Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country. They have been well-supported by the students in attendance at carnivals and in gaining places. Congratulations to our Hunter Captains: Leila M, Ryan S, Iris F and Claire L for leading the Hunter team. We also congratulate all House Captains for 2024 as we near the end of Year 12. They have been a wonderful team of House Captains that have lead by example with lots of enthusiasm.

Thank you for your support for school sport in 2024.
