On Sunday, some NLPS teachers laced up their runners to take part in the annual Maribyrnong River Run - a local fun run that aims to raise important funds for The Smith Family. Denise, Carol and Eliza raced through the 10km and Rhianna and Erin took on the half marathon. It was a beautiful Sunday morning, with the sun peaking through the clouds, proving to be a stunning course along the Maribyrnong River.

The overall target fundraising goal for the Maribyrnong River Run was $5000, with every cent donated towards changing the lives of Australian children experiencing disadvantage. The Smith Family believes that education is one of the world’s most powerful change agents. The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program provides emotional, practical and financial support to help disadvantaged children and young people with their education. Their programs help build skills, knowledge, motivation, self-belief and a network of positive relationships with parents, peers and significant others. This support increases a young person’s likelihood of remaining engaged with school, completing Year 12 and developing realistic and informed study and career pathways for life beyond the school gate.
