Wellbeing Report

*THRIVE

2025 diaries have been prepared for the booklist.

Sarah Roney has been going into classrooms to run THRIVE Curriculum lessons in addition to the THRIVE Curriculum teachers are using. Our focus currently is on maintaining positive connections with others. We will be working through some themes on resilience as we prepare students for transition at the end of the year.

Congratulations to Melanie Joy who is working with Sarah Roney to connect our local pre-schools with THRIVE and incorporate more lunchtime activities for students at LPPS. We already have the Playleaders, Helping Club and the wonderful activities Mrs Burt organises, but we are looking to incorporate more.

*2025

Preparations for class building for 2025 are complete. Parents will receive an email detailing the start of the process. It’s a complex one which takes 6-8 weeks to complete all the variables that go with it. Students will know their new teachers and classes on UP Day in December. Students with additional needs will have comprehensive transition activities leading up to that day—with out goal being for everyone to have a happy transition.

*REAL SCHOOLS-As part of our engagement with REAL SCHOOLS we continue to have a focus on explicit expectations about behaviour using affective statements to acknowledge when students are doing things well. Our focuses currently are on lining up and entering class in a quiet and orderly manner, moving between class in a quiet and orderly manner, using Child Safe Lanyards when leaving class, playing in designated play areas and wearing our hats in the yard. Our next focus will be on uniforms.

*BREAKFAST CLUB – continues to be a popular place to visit. Thank you Naomi McMaster for managing this and the Free Food Hamper.

*BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT

You will have noticed that you are now receiving COMPASS notifications for positive behaviours. IEPs and BSPs for your child are also available for you to view in their profile.

We are working with our network schools in Langwarrin to review our Behaviour Management model. We have a consistent expectation model at the moment and a consistent process we follow. We feel it will be valuable to review what other schools are doing but also to open up the negative behaviour portal to parents to add to our efficiency.

*Bella continues to be amazing and an integral member of the wellbeing team. We regularly review with students the expectations around engaging with Bella. It is particularly important students remember to be quiet when near her and pat her on the approved zones – chest, back or tummy. .

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club runs on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s mornings over near the gym area. It is staffed by some of our Education Support staff and student volunteers. We firmly believe that students need to have a good breakfast to be regulated and focussed on the classroom. We are always looking for more volunteers so if you think you could help from 8.25am please just contact Naomi Mc Master at school. We offer fruit , milk and toast. We are aware of allergies alerted on student files. It is a ‘grab and go’ set up so we can cater for lots of students to have a healthy snack before class.

Remember to thank our lovely volunteers!

LEGO CLUB Year 4 students have signed up to operate a Lego Club in the Blue Carpet area. More details to come! We would love any spare lego pieces you may no longer be using.  If you have some to spare please drop into the Front Office.

ON-SITE PSYCHOLOGIST

We have private practitioner, psychologist Meaghan Morley, working out of our school one day a week on a Thursday.  We understand how difficult it is to get students to appointments out of school hours, and the long waiting lists people face. Thus, we feel very fortunate that we are able to offer you this service.  Meaghan completes a range of assessments including cognitive, behavioural and educational at a competitive cost. Prices start at $500. A copy of the fees available upon request.  If you would like more information, please speak with Luana Lane in the Student Support Office.

FUN IN THE YARD Year 5 Play Leaders and Helping Hub students are in the junior school courtyards each lunchtime offering an array of activities and games for them to participate in.
