Dear Karoo PS Community,
What a sensational term we have had! From 3/4 swimming to Year 3 camps, book week, science week, Maths Talent Quest and Expo celebrations, Disco dancing and more. It has definitely been a term of opportunity and inspiration! A chance for our students to shine demonstrating their range of skills and knowledge, how lucky we all are to be at Karoo Primary School.
As the Term comes to a close, it is time to reflect on the times this term in which we have all excelled, as well as on the times that we have found challenging. It is through experiencing challenges that we can really understand the excitement of achievement and success. All our Karoo PS students should be very proud of the kindness, tenacity and personal excellence that they have demonstrated this term.
As the transition to holidays approaches, it can be a time of excitement but also apprehension. Both these emotions are very normal and are often felt together, especially when the holidays draw to a close and it is time to come back to school in Term 4. If you notice that your child is feeling apprehensive about the transition, please check in with your child's teacher as we can provide further support through check ins and social stories, which enable the conversation about coming back to school to focus on the positive connections at school and what to look forward to in Term 4.
A social story is a story about an identified area to support a student's understanding about that event, topic, behaviour, skill or concept further. It is personalised to the student and their interests and is something that can be read at school and at home to expose the student to the learning multiple times to increase their level of understanding.
At Karoo Primary School, we always strive to consult and work collaboratively with our school community to ensure our policies and processes are as relevant and effective as possible. Therefore, please find the links below to five policies that have been updated to reflect the current practices that are occurring at our dynamic school.
We appreciate the time you take to read through our policies and welcome your consultation. If you would like to provide feedback or have any questions, please don't hesitate to email myself, Courtney Hoffmann at Courtney.Hoffmann@education.vic.gov.au.
I hope that you all have a well deserved holiday break, and I look forward to seeing you all around our wonderful school in Term 4!
Kind Regards,
Courtney Hoffmann
