Kinder/Year 1
This term in Science we have been learning that materials can be changed. We call this their properties. This is a part of learning about the material world around us. We explored materials that can be stretched, bent, twisted and melted. In the photos, you will see us changing playdough, lolly snakes and ice cubes in various ways. Ice cubes had very different properties from the first two. While testing these materials, we created fairness by having the same quantities, time, access to resources, and doing pre- and post-measuring. It is important in Science to conduct fair tests, collect and present our data and analyse our findings. These were all a part of our learning this term.
In cooking, we also learned about cutting, slicing, melting and mixing to change and combine materials.
ST1-6MW-S: A student identifies that materials can be changed or combined.
