Mr. Carlyle's Message
Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.
I hope all of our families were able to keep warm and safe during the recent storms and severe wind events.
Happy Father's Day last weekend to all of the BPS dads, granddad, and special people! I hope you had a wonderful time celebrating with your family on the weekend. A big thank you to our Parents and Friends Group and parent volunteers for their help last week with the Father's Day Stall. Preparing for the stall is also a lot of hard work behind the scenes, and I appreciate the support you provide to our students so they have the opportunity to purchase a gift.
It is a big week for the school next week with our 3/4 Camp, our Junior excursion to the Ballarat Wildlife Park, and the 5/6 expo all taking place. I will be attending the 3/4 Camp and I'm looking forward to those experiences with our students away from the normal school environment, that promote new friendships and outdoor experiences.
Breakfast Club
Ballan PS has been accepted into the School Breakfast Club program via Food Bank.
This program includes the provision of breakfast options to all students, as well as a fruit option once a day at our healthy snack break.
We are currently working out the logistics for the program, yet ultimately we are looking for parents/grandparents/carers who would be able to volunteer for the program. It doesn't matter if you can offer one morning a week/fortnight. The success of this program will rely on volunteer input. We can provide this program five mornings a week if we receive the support to do so.
What a morning will look like, the program will run from 8:45-9:00 am. Cooking toast and providing cereal options. the time commitment required from volunteers would most likely include an 8:30 am start and a 9:10 finish. We will be refining our practice as we start the program, so times may change as we discover what works best.
Celebrating 150 years
This year Ballan Primary School will be celebrating its 150th year. In November this will see us hosting a community event that will merge with our Fete. The Parents and Friends Group is seeking anyone who would be interested in being a part of the organisation of this event. Or to help out or volunteer their time in any way, as Teamwork makes the Dream Work! You can reach out to me or the school, if you feel like you could contribute, or if you have a fantastic idea for something we could add to the celebrations.
