Regional Lawn Bowls

Well done to all the Sacred Heart lawn bowlers who played in the Greater Western Regional final last Wednesday in Ballarat. A big congratulations to Sacred Heart Navy who were the overall winners - Nash Charles, Natalie Farquharson, Max Mitchell, Silas Walsh, Bodhi Baker, and Dusty McCrimmon. These students will now compete in the State Lawn Bowls final in Sunbury on Wednesday 30th October.

AFL 9’s Football

All the best to the following students who will compete in the Greater Western AFL 9’s Regional finals at Victoria Park, Ballarat tomorrow Wednesday 11th September - Bodhi Baker, Max Mitchell, Jack Seuren, Hudson Oborne, Dusty McCrimmon, Brock Jamieson, Jock Melville, Zaiden Finn, Finley Geary, Brady Hickey, Kade Genua, Alfie Doyle, Macey Foster, Asha Mahoney, Hemi Babington, Natalie Farquharson, Ruby Hay, Jemma Howat, Scarlett Smith, Asha McNaughton, Regan Smart, Tahlia Kelly and Ruby Nowell. Students will travel by bus to this event. The bus will leave Sacred Heart gym carpark at 8:00pm and return at 4:00pm. Students will need to wear their sports uniform and bring along their school hat, sunscreen, snacks, fruit, lunch and water bottle. Football jumpers will be supplied, football boots are not compulsory. 

The weather does not look good, so students may need to bring a towel, rain coat and spare clothes.

LAPS

Last week we were lucky enough to have Kelly Costin from the Little Athletics Program for Schools (LAPS) come to our school to educate the students on the many skills that are offered at Little Athletics including running, jumping and throwing. Kelly will be back in Term 4 to work with the students again.

Colac’s Little Athletics program will start on Saturday 5th October at 8:45am at the Colac Central Reserve.

Winter Sport 

This Friday 13th September our Year 5 and 6 students will compete against Colac South West Primary School in Round 4 of the Winter Sport Competition between recess and lunch. This will take place at Sacred Heart. Students will need to wear their sports uniform and bring along the appropriate uniform for their selected sport.  The sports on the day are football, netball, badminton, hot shots tennis, soccer, table tennis and down ball.  Drink bottles will be needed. Students can still have a lunch order on this day.

 

State Netball Finals

Congratulations to the following boys who have qualified to compete in the State Netball Championships on Wednesday 18th September at Waverley Netball Centre, Wheelers Hill – Bodhi Baker, Talon Borch, Seth Cameron, Jack Seuren, Zaiden Finn, Kade Genua, Hudson Oborne, Max Mitchell and Finley Geary. The boys will travel by bus to this event. The bus will leave Sacred Heart at 5:45am and return at 6:00pm. Boys will need to wear their black basketball shorts on the day (no pockets allowed). Netball tops will be supplied, parents/guardians/grandparents are welcome to travel on the bus to this event. 

Foundation Swimming Program

The Foundation swimming program will start in Term 4 on Wednesday 9th October at Heather’s Swim School. Students are reminded that they need swimming bathers, a towel and goggles (all clearly labelled). Students may wear their sports uniform each Wednesday for the swimming program (please also label each item, you would be surprised how many children have the same shoes with the same size etc). 

Swimming times will be as follows:

(FSF) at 11:30am – 12:00pm 

(FME) at 12:00pm – 12:30pm

(FSN) at 12:30pm – 1:00pm 

We do need parents to assist with walking the students to and from the pool. Just a reminder that all helpers need to have a Working With Children Check and the school needs to have a copy.

Footy Colours Day

On Friday 20th September, all students have the chance to wear their favourite football code colours e.g. AFL, soccer, NRL etc. This is also Hot Dog day (no lunch orders)!

Colac Division Golf Tournament

Unfortunately we had to postpone the Colac Division Golf Tournament last Friday due to the weather conditions. The new date for the golf tournament is Friday 15th November.

Name: Ruby Nowell (Yr 6KT)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are netball, motorcross and waterskiing.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is netball.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Netball is my favourite sport because I like to play with my friends and I am a very good netball player.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I shot a goal from just outside of the ring!

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my fast running and I am a good goal shooter.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is really fun and I get to play with my friends.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is my sister Charli.

8. Why are they your favourite? Charli is my favourite player because she teaches me lots of skills about netball.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Melbourne Vixens.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a good sport and that I am fair.

 

Name: Brock Jamieson (Yr 5JR)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are cricket. Basketball and football.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is football.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Football is my favourite sport because I love the game and it is fun. 

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I took a ‘hanger’ on Max.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my training ability. I like to help teach the younger students.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I like to keep active and it is fun.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Dusty Martin for Richmond.

8. Why are they your favourite? Martin is my favourite player because he is a great football player who has very good skills.

9. What are your favourite sporting teams? My favourite sports teams are Richmond and the Los Angeles Lakers.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a good team mate and fun to play with.

 

Name: Matilda Vary (Yr 4 DC)

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are basketball and Netball.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is basketball.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Basketball is my favourite sport because it is a fun game and I am good at it.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sports moment was when I got a long one hander in and I got fouled at the same time, so I got extra shots.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in basketball is that I am a good shooter and I am very fast. 

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I like to run, it keeps me fit and I get to play with my friends.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Lauren Jackson who is an Australian professional basketball player.

8. Why are they your favourite? Lauren is my favourite sports person because she is entertaining to watch and she is a super star.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Lakers.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a good shooter and a good sport.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I shot my first goal in basketball.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strength in sport is that I run fast.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and I like to play with my friends.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is my brother Darcy Foster.

8. Why are they your favourite? Darcy is my favourite sports person because he kicks lots of goals.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? Geelong Cats

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? Coaches and teammates would say that I am a good sport and I am a good player.
