Our GO Foundation Scholars were up early for the trip into Taronga Zoo for their second Culture Connection Day. They split their day exploring the Zoo, taking part in hands on animal workshops and conservation talks as well as sharing in inspirational yarns with Michael O’Laughlin, Sonia Stewart and Dr Kirsten Banks. Such a fantastic opportunity hear about the incredible work being done by First Nations people in a range of fields, helping our kids aim high for their own futures.
Camden High School were lucky to be selected to work with the team from Greening Australia for the ‘Cooling the Schools’ this term, allowing us to plant hundreds of new native plants across the school to provide shade, bird and animal habitat and offset some of the urban development happening in our area. Bundjalung woman Janelle started off the sessions for our Year 8 and 9 Agriculture and Frist Nations students with a yarn about caring for Country and the ways that Aboriginal people have used and cared for plants, then we got our hands dirty planting our seedlings. We are looking forward to watering them and watching them grow!
