This term Year 9 PDHPE have been learning about relationships, consent and sexual health during their theory lessons. In practical lessons they have been participating in a range of invasion and modified games.
Year 10 PDHPE are about to commence a new unit called “Fit for Life” which incorporates both practical and theory lessons. Students will learn about the benefits of physical activity, goal setting and analysing sports performances. They have also just completed their Semester 2 examination and we look forward to seeing their results once they are finalised.
Year 10 recently attended the“B Street Smart” excursion at Qudos Bank Arena. This excursion is run by the Trauma Service at Westmead Hospital and aims to promote safe driver, rider and passenger behaviour. It is Australia’s largest educational event on road safety and our students were excellent representatives of the school and learnt a lot from this valuable experience.
Next term Year 9 PASS will be learning about sports for specific groups. This includes sports for people with disabilities and sports significant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
Year 10 PASS are currently working on their event management assessment task. They are organising a one day sports event for 150 students in a sport of their choosing. They must look at pre-event, during event and post-event considerations. This pairs nicely with their practical lessons where they are participating in a range of round robin sports.
