Physical Education

Over the past few weeks, Weeden Heights has had enormous success competing in sport events.

3/4 Hoop Time

We had 7 teams playing against other schools and sometimes each other at Hoop Time on  5 September.

The teams played against students who knew basketball well and some who didn't know it very well.

The students came into the event having practised back at school with their teams and were ready to play!

Each team tried their best and demonstrated school pride.

At the end of the day, we had two Weeden Heights teams in the Future Stars grand final.

Both teams gave everything they could.

The Weeden Heights Hurricanes came out the winners and will be progressing to the next level in Hoop Time. Congratulations!

Well done Weeden Heights Hurricanes!
Well done Weeden Heights Hurricanes!

A massive thank you to all the parent helpers that came along. We couldn't have run so smoothly without you.

I am extremely proud of the 3/4s for their efforts, and they should all be very proud of themselves. Well done!

District Athletics

What a day! Students competed in field (discus, long jump, high jump, shot put and triple jump) and track (100m, 200m, hurdles, 800m, 1500m and circular relay) events.

The students put a lot of effort into each event they were in and tried their hardest.

We had students bringing back ribbons left, right and centre.

Some students were invited to progress to division.

A huge thank you to the parents who volunteered to help on the day. Your help was invaluable, and we couldn't have run the day without your incredible help.

Well done to those students that competed in the district athletics. You all did Weeden Heights proud!

French

  • Prep/Grade1: the students have started their portfolio pieces. They are using the expressions and sports learnt in class (I like = J'aime, I don't like = Je n'aime pas, I love = J'adore, I hate = Je déteste) to write down their preferences:
  • Grade 2: After learning how to form the ending of adjectives (depending on the  gender of the noun), the students are applying their knowledge to describe the Olympic mascot. They are now designing their own mascots and will describe them next term:
  • Grades 5/6: Congratulations to the following students:
    - Erin B, Cassidy, Raeya and Aneesha for scoring 10/10 on your end of term assessment.
    - Jasmine H, Jerry, Olivia Z, Annabelle, Marley and Vincent for scoring 9/10.

You have demonstrated that you do your homework consistently. You have memorised all the vocabulary learnt this Term and you can conjugate a selection of verbs. You understand how to use various subject pronouns and how to form the plural of nouns. Your work is outstanding! Here is Erin's work:
