Term 3 at the NCTTC

Once again, it has been a busy term at the Trade Training Centre!

Term 3 saw us welcome the Year 7s, as they commenced Wood class. The students are enjoying the opportunity to learn some of the foundation skills of woodwork & have produced amazing projects, which they are excited to take home! Thanks to the Year 7s for the engagement & responsibility shown this term. Thanks also to Mr. Edwards & Mr. Segger!

In August, our future Year 9 students enjoyed an Orientation program, which enabled them to try a number of subjects & consequently informed their 2025 subject selections.

The VET Community Services class continued to participate in the Meals on Wheels program throughout the term. This is a worthwhile learning experience, which has great benefits for our students & the community. Thanks to Mrs Aurisch for her organisation & the students who assisted with this very important service.

Recently, the VET Agriculture class visited the Victorian Olive Oil Project orchards, west of Boort. The Victorian Olive Oil Project was acquired by Australian Agricultural Projects in 2007 & has developed into a low-cost, high-quality producer of extra virgin olive oils. Our students were lucky to learn about the horticultural practices & olive oil projects. Thanks to Tahlijia for organising the excursion, Mr. Daff for driving the bus & the Ag students who posed some great question on the day!

Three of our VET Allied Health students commenced their compulsory work placement this term, with the remainder undertaking placement in the first five weeks of Term 4. Placing students in local organisations has been a massive undertaking & I would like to thank Mary-Ann Sait for the incredible support she has provided. We look forward to hearing about the students’ experiences over coming weeks.

The kitchen garden is looking good thanks to the contributions of the SAKG students & the Year 9 Agriculture class. We also have chicks hatching, which is a joint venture between the VET Animal Care class & the Year 9 Agriculture class who will be responsible for their care- fun times ahead!

Lastly, 2025 subject selections have been submitted, which is always a reminder that the end of the year is coming (too) quickly!

I would like to thank our staff & students for their efforts this term & hope everyone has a great break & return ready for a busy Term 4!
