Principal's News

Dear Parents

As we draw to the close of Term 3 I take the opportunity to reflect on what has been an outstanding term for Oakleigh Grammar.

Our School community has come together in remarkable ways, and there are so many milestones worth celebrating.  Last week I was thrilled to be present at our annual Year 11 Formal which proved to be an evening full of positivity, energy and celebration with all students dressed to the hilt, embracing a wide range of music as they danced incessantly on the dance floor.  A highlight was a special student performance and a 'bouzouki' bonanza played by a former student all whilst sharing fabulous food and company.

Business Breakfast

Another highlight this term was our Business Breakfast, where we witnessed a record turnout.  The event was a tremendous success, with many local businesses, alumni, staff, students and Community members joining us.  We were fortunate to have two incredibly inspiring keynote speakers, Ross Lyon, renowned AFL coach, and Nick Papas KC, a highly respected barrister, both of whom shared invaluable insights on leadership, perseverance, and the importance of adapting to challenges in both business and life.  Their words certainly resonated with all present.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made this event such a memorable one.  The funds raised will go towards purchasing Choir Rises which will benefit our students and families in future Assemblies and productions.  I commend Business Breakfast convenor Mr Vic Rajah for his support of this important annual event and all Sponsors for their generosity.

Round Square International Conference

We are thrilled to announce that Oakleigh Grammar will be represented at the Round Square International Conference in Dubai.  Our staff and student delegates will have the opportunity to connect with like-minded schools from across the world, engaging in discussions and projects that champion global citizenship, adventure, and service.

As part of this event, Oakleigh Grammar will receive the coveted Round Square Flag, officially recognising us as a full member school.  This recognition is a testament to our commitment to providing students with opportunities to grow as responsible, ethical global citizens.  I look forward to accompanying our students and staff and bringing back valuable experiences to our school community.

Parent-Teacher Interviews & Student-Led Conferences

Thank you to all of the parents who attended the recent Parent-Teacher Interviews and Student-Led Conferences.  These sessions provide important opportunities for collaboration and feedback, and it is pleasing to see so many families actively engaged in their children’s learning journeys.  Your support and involvement in these important conversations make all the difference to the success of our students.

Thank you also to the teaching staff who give up their valuable family time to be present at these important school events.

Achievements in Sport, Debating, and the Arts

Over the course of the term our students have participated at and excelled in a range of extra-curricular activities:

  • Sport: Our students have continued to excel across a range of sporting activities  ranging from athletics and cross country to soccer, basketball and badminton, I would like to extend my congratulations to all of our students who have competed, as well as to our dedicated coaches for their unwavering support.  To our Junior School students who have been undertaking swimming lessons I hope to see you in a swimming carnival in the future.

  • Debating: The Oakleigh Grammar debaters have proven once again that they are a force to be reckoned with.  Their sharp minds and eloquent arguments have earned them high praise and they are commended for entertaining a Hall full of OG students in the recent House Competition.  Special mention goes to our senior debating Year 11 team who have continued to impress in every competition they have entered this term.

  • Middle School Production: Special acknowledgement is extended to our Middle School students for their outstanding production of Pirates!  Their performance was nothing short of spectacular. The students showcased their talent, creativity, and hard work in every scene, making the show an unforgettable experience for all who attended.  A huge congratulations is extended to the cast, crew, as well as Director Mrs Bettiol and Assistant Director, Mr Musson and all who supported the production.

Looking Ahead

As we approach the end of Term 3, I encourage all students to reflect on their achievements and continue striving for excellence in all that they do.  In particular, our Year 12 students will be busy consolidating their learning and preparing for their final examinations next term.  Term 4 promises to bring more exciting opportunities, and I am confident that we will continue to build on our successes.
