PRINCIPAL UPDATE

A huge congratulations to Paddy K from 5JA who participated in a Barcelona Football Club school holiday program and was one of a few children out of hundreds across the country that has been picked to attend the Barcelona Academy in Barcelona, Spain to play soccer under Barcelona FC coaches with children from all over the world.

This is a huge honour for Paddy to play at the Barca FC home ground and extra special for him as the criteria was not just skill based but also demonstrating the Barca values.

Paddy and his family are heading overseas to Spain in March for three weeks whereby he will represent the Barcelona Academy Australia and NZ division against some local teams, international academies,  attend a La Liga game and do a 9-day intensive training course to learn the Barca method and philosophy.  Go Get Em Paddy.. A superstar effort!!!

Grade 6 students and staff headed to Healesville last week and enjoyed a couple of fabulous days away on camp.  The weather was spectacular and all students, staff and parents that were in attendance had a great time.

Thank you to Elise Hultgren for organising this wonderful experience for the Grade 6 students, to staff Jason and Jenny, along with our parent volunteers Ben C, Ben W, Cameron J, Miranda B and Melissa R for giving up their time to assist with this. We can't run these types of activities without volunteers, and we are grateful for your involvement.

Please don’t forget that Wednesday is a Public Holiday for Geelong Cup Day and there will be no school.

A huge congratulations to Sarah Jeffreys for her role in Mamma Mia the Musical that finished last Sunday at the Geelong Performing Arts Centre.  Most of the Chilwell staff went to this, along with some Chilwell families It was an amazing production.

Can we please ask any families that are moving on next year to please ensure they inform the office via Chilwell.ps@education.vic.gov.au  as soon as possible.  This information is vital in our planning of classes and managing our enrolment numbers for 2026.

As you are aware from my email sent on Friday October 10th, many factors are considered in the placement of students into classes including, but not limited to, the individual’s academic and social learning. If you believe you have specific considerations that need to be taken into account, please put this in writing to me at Chilwell.ps@education.vic.gov.au no later than 4pm on Friday October 31st. We will not be accepting any further emails from this date or after grades are announced.

These are considerations only and the outcome is NOT guaranteed. We use multiple sources of information when developing classes and a great deal of factors are considered.  There will be no individual classroom teacher or student requests accepted.

We look forward to celebrating the outcome of the Colour Run today, and what an exciting event that was.  We thank parent volunteers, Grade 6 students, and Elise Hultgren for her amazing efforts with the organisation of this event.

We have multiple other events in the coming weeks and ask parents to keep an eye on the calendar and Compass to ensure you are aware of what is taking place.  Please also ensure that you action any Compass permissions etc. to ensure your child is able to attend events.  Information is being released about swimming program and the School Concert also in the coming weeks.

Can I also please ask families to action the Parent Payment as per previous email in regard to curriculum consumables and programs to support student learning within the classroom and specialist classes.

Have a great week all.

Kind regards,

Meg
