Registration is now open to register your child/ren for our 2026 Production of Aladdin Jr! As per previous years, every student in G1-6 in 2026 is welcome to join our Aladdin Jr cast within the ensemble without auditioning. We start organising things this year so students can familiarise themselves with the songs over the summer holidays.
FIRST ROUND AUDITIONS for LEAD CAST and SPEAKING ENSEMBLE ROLES will be via video submission and due end of Friday 10 October (end of first week of Term 4).
AUDITION MUSIC AND SCRIPT EXCERPTS TO USE (will be fully up-to-date by 20/9)
More details of exact Production dates (late May/June 2026) and rehearsal schedules will be available soon via compass note.
Prep to Grade 2 students have been exploring ideas for characters and situations through storytelling and dramatic play, including improvisation. They have also been responding and expressing what music they like and why.
Grade 3-6 students have been warming up in lessons by tuning their visual and listening skills to compose music to match movements of a sports ball. In age appropriate detail, we have been exploring how different elements of music (eg. tempo, dynamics, pitch) are used to communicate ideas and purpose in music we listen to. Students are learning about orchestral instrument families and identifying when the families (string, woodwind, brass, percussion) feature in songs we listen to. We also discuss our preferences about each piece:
"I loved the piece, it filled me with joy and I wanted to dance"
"I didn't like it as it didn't have any voices in it. I found it boring"
"I did like it because when I'm stressed it can help me get all my worries out"
"I did like it because there were lots of different dynamics in the piece, it felt relaxing & calm"
Any queries please pop into the theatre on Tuesday or Thursdays or email me.
Warm regards,
Sarah Bailey
