Grade 3 and 4

Term 3

This term has come and gone but what a wonderful 9 weeks we have had. We headed to the Werribee Zoo, dressed up for Book Week, Books to Life, Father's Day, Athletics Day, R U OK? Day and lots of learning in between. The Grade 4 students have had a taste of leadership in running assembly (Creeker TV), we were extremely proud of their leadership and willingness to take on this opportunity - future ACPS leaders!

English

To finish off this term we have been learning about Aesop Fables. Aesop was believed to be an ancient Greek storyteller born around 620 BC. He is famous for his fables, which have been retold from generation to generation. Aesop's fables contain within them morals or overall lessons to be learned. Each fable uses a story to present an important bit of knowledge applicable to life. We learnt that Aesop uses animals and plants with human-like qualities instead of people. The students have really enjoyed reading a range of Aesop Fables and being able to infer the moral of the story.

Maths

Multiplication and division was extremely fun to teach and learn. Students were exposed to a range of engaging maths games, supporting and practicing their times tables, we were competitive but have seen great improvement in our multiplication and division facts. Students thrived with learning the box method, lattice method and algorithm and understanding the related division facts.

Swimming

We have a school of fish. It was amazing to see the growth and development in the Grade 3 and 4 students across the fortnight, with beautiful freestyle strokes, confidence being in the water and feeling more ready for summer.

R u OK?

Thursday 11 September was R U OK?Day

We know that our friends and family go through ups and downs every day. That’s why we want everyone to feel confident to check in with the people they care about and ask R U OK? Any Day. We enjoyed dressing up with a touch of yellow and learning different ways to check in with our friends and family.

Thank you for another wonderful term. Enjoy the break and we will see you in Term 4.
