Principal's Report

Principal’s Report – End of Term

As we reach the end of Term, it is worth pausing to reflect on the many opportunities our students have embraced across learning, sport and community. This term has been busy, productive and filled with achievements that highlight the strength of our school.

The term began with the Book Fair, which was well supported by families and gave students the chance to choose books that sparked their interest and encouraged a love of reading. Our Prep students celebrated 100 days of school by dressing as 100-year-olds, while our Grade 6 students marked 100 days left by arriving as their Prep selves. These traditions continue to be a fun way of recognising milestones. Book Week was another highlight, with students proudly parading in costume and celebrating their favourite stories.

Inside the classroom, students engaged purposefully with their learning programs, strengthening core skills in literacy and numeracy while exploring rich concepts through inquiry. In literacy, there was a strong focus on reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing development, while in numeracy students built confidence in problem-solving, number fluency, and applying mathematical thinking to real-world contexts. Inquiry units encouraged curiosity, questioning, and hands-on investigation, with students drawing connections between their learning and the world around them. Learning outside the classroom was also significant. Grades 3 and 4 explored the Werribee Zoo, linking their classroom learning to real-world experiences. Grades 5 and 6 attended camp at Sovereign Hill, where they stepped back into the Gold Rush era through hands-on activities such as panning for gold and visiting the mines. Students also enjoyed the Books to Life performance of General Waste, which provided an engaging way to experience literature.

Sporting achievement was once again on display. Grade 5 and 6 students competed in the Soccer Gala Day and Hoop Time, demonstrating teamwork and commitment. Our Senior Girls Netball team won the Division Final to advance to the Regional Championships, while the Senior Girls AFL team went one step further, winning at Regionals and qualifying for the State Championships – placing them in the top eight primary school teams in Victoria. The Athletics Carnival brought the whole school together in a celebration of house spirit, and many students went on to represent ACPS with pride at the District Athletics competition. Beyond school, it was also pleasing to see so many students involved in their weekend sport finals, showing the same determination in their community teams.

Our community events were well supported. The Father’s Day Breakfast and Stall were a highlight for many families and a chance for students to share the day with Dads, Grandads and special friends. Later in the term, RUOK Day encouraged us all to stop, check in and have important conversations about wellbeing.

I would like to acknowledge the efforts of our students, the commitment of our staff, and the support of our families throughout the Term. Together, we have created many memorable experiences and continued to build a strong, connected school community. I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday and look forward to another successful term ahead.
