What's happening in Italian?
Salve,
Welcome back to a new and exciting term of Italian. This term promises to be full of fun, creativity and lots of learning as we continue to explore the Italian language and learn all about 2D shapes.
Our Prep students have begun learning the names of 2D shapes in Italian. We watched an introductory video that the students found very entertaining and engaging. The Students showed excellent listening skills and great enthusiasm and teamwork as they searched the floor to find the right shape. Through these fun activities, students are developing their listening and speaking skills and continue to build their Italian vocabulary.
Year 1 and 2 students have been learning the names of 2D shapes in Italian and revising their English names as well. Students focused on pronouncing each word correctly and listened carefully as the teacher called out different shapes in Italian. These activities helped students strengthen their listening and speaking skills and helped to build confidence in using Italian vocabulary in games.
Our Year 3 and 4 students have been learning to name and describe 2D shapes in Italian. They have been learning to identify and name a range of shapes, and to use Italian vocabulary to describe some of their properties such as sides and angles. They had turns at giving clues in Italian for the child to guess his/her shape in Italian. Through these activities, they are strengthening both their mathematical understanding and their ability to communicate in Italian.
In Years 5 and 6 the students have been learning to identify, name, and describe 2D shapes in Italian. They are learning to use Italian vocabulary to describe the properties of 2D shapes. Students have been practising pronunciation, expanding their Italian mathematical vocabulary, and applying their knowledge through interactive and descriptive tasks. These lessons are helping students make meaningful links between mathematical concepts and language learning while building confidence in using Italian to communicate ideas.
Ben fatto a tutti!
Saluti e alla prossima volta.
Gina Michieli (Italian Teacher)
