Year 8 Father's Day contributions

Last weekend saw Year 8 student, Conor Barry, and his mother, Michelle, deliver heartfelt gift bags to dads who have babies in the NICU at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH), creating unforgettable moments of kindness and connection.  Each bag was filled with handmade cards, treats and creative gifts - including 3D printed keyrings, bookmarks, mugs, books and more.

All of these gifts were raised through Year 8 student contributions, along with local business support.  The involvement from local business came about due to students and parents reaching out for support for this wothy cause.

One dad was so moved he offered to support future community projects at RNSH, while another was brought to tears by the gesture.  The experience gave students a powerful glimpse into the realities faced by these families, including one dad juggling work and hospital visits to and from the Central Coast.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed.  Your generosity made a real difference - and showed how far compassion can go.

Spotlight on Talent: Lights Camera Pius! Film Festival Shines Bright

After months of anticipation, the 10th annual Lights Camera Pius! Film Festival lit up the big screen at Hoyts Cinema last Thursday. The event showcased an impressive array of student films, with each year bringing a noticeable leap in creativity and technical skill.

From Year 5 to Year 12, our young filmmakers demonstrated remarkable sophistication in production and editing. Audiences were treated to a diverse mix of genres including documentaries, action-packed thrillers, mysteries, and animations - each reflecting the unique voice and vision of its creators.

Our panel of judges - Mr Daniel Burton, Mr Jackson Powell, and School Captain Anthony Parissis - faced tough decisions as they evaluated the outstanding submissions. Their thoughtful deliberations highlighted the depth of talent across all year levels.

Behind the scenes, a dedicated committee worked tirelessly to ensure the festival ran smoothly. Their efforts helped create a professional and celebratory atmosphere, making this milestone event a true success.

Of special mention are the committee members in Year 11, in particular Sam Hollier, Archie Turner and Matthew Oppen, who chaired the meetings and MC’d the event. They demonstrated leadership skills and performed many duties including speaking at assemblies and organising the younger students into sub-committees to accomplish the many tasks involved in preparing for the day.

Our prize winners will be presented with their prizes at the Wednesday Academic Assembly in Week 8.

Lights Camera Pius! continues to be a celebration of storytelling, innovation, and student voice - and this year was no exception.

Maths Drop-In

A friendly reminder that Maths Drop In is running Tuesday, Thursday & Friday to assist with up-coming assessments  in these next few weeks.

It was fantastic to see the energy and enthusiasm of many students on Tuesday…. with numbers spilling into two classrooms. …. Remember, the only way to get better at Maths is by doing Maths. Keep up the great energy and stay focused on your goals!
