From the Acting Principal

Yesterday, we welcomed Ashlee from Belgrave Police Station, who visited to present prizes for the colouring competition held earlier this term. Congratulations to Ashlea (1st prize) and Payton (2nd prize), both from Year 4/5, for their colourful and artistic entries!

We’d also like to acknowledge the efforts of Harvey, Elena, Teddy, Mason, and Greta, who received prizes for their wonderful work. A big thank you to all the students who participated and supported this fantastic initiative from our local police station. Well done, everyone!

Mr Mc has arrived safely in Rome and has been sharing some of his adventures and experiences with staff. He has been busy touring Vatican City, including St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, as well as other significant holy sites and people. We look forward to hearing more about his journey when he returns next term.

Japanese Fun Day:

Today, our school immersed itself in the spirit and culture of Japan. Students had the opportunity to take part in a range of hands-on cultural activities, including inari making (marinated fried tofu with rice), kappa maki (cucumber rolls), koi fish drawing, and an exciting Kendo incursion. Arigato (thank you) to Bawden Sensei for thoughtfully planning such a rich and engaging day for our students. It was a wonderful celebration of Japanese culture that brought learning to life in creative and memorable ways.

MACSSIS School Improvement Survey:

Families should have received an email from Mr Mc in late August with details on how to access the St Thomas More MACSSIS School Improvement Survey for 2025. It is due to close on Friday 19th September. We encourage families to take the time (approximately 20 minutes) to complete the survey, as it provides us with valuable insights and feedback to support our ongoing school improvement and planning. Thank you to the families who have completed this already. Don't forget to reply to Mr Mc's email to go into the draw for a $50 Coles Myer voucher.

R U OK? Day

Today is R U Ok? Day, a day to raise awareness about mental health and remind one another of the power of a simple conversation. It’s a time to encourage meaningful connections and to check in with those around us. So today, I ask: Are you OK? If you're not, please know you're not alone. Reach out, whether to a friend, a colleague, a teacher, or a member of our staff or community. St Thomas More is a place where we all belong, learn, grow, and support one another.

Let’s continue to build a culture of kindness, care, compassion, and connection—today and every day.
