Denise's Message

END OF TERM 3 FRIDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER 2PM

Good To Be Back

How truly wonderful it was to be welcomed back to St Michael’s by our children, parents, and staff. Returning to such a warm and vibrant community after time away reminds me again of the special spirit that makes our school so unique.

I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to travel through South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Botswana during my time away. Our journey took us deep into the heart of these countries, where we experienced the beauty of nature in its purest form. Going on safari and witnessing the majesty of the ‘Big Five’—elephants, rhinos, lions, buffalo, and leopards—alongside countless other remarkable animals, was nothing short of magical. To see them roam freely in their natural habitat, rather than behind enclosures, was both humbling and exhilarating.

Equally moving was the time we spent with local communities, whose lives are so deeply intertwined with the land and wildlife around them. Their passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to conserving these precious creatures and protecting them from extinction was awe-inspiring. It was a reminder of how much we can learn from others’ stewardship of the natural world.

I look forward to sharing stories, photos, and reflections from this journey with the children in the weeks ahead—it will be a wonderful way to connect their learning with real-world experiences of culture, geography, and care for creation.

I have shared just a few of my photographs with you.

I also want to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Angela and Hang, who so capably stepped into the roles of Principal and Deputy Principal during my absence. Their leadership, along with the dedication of our staff, ensured that everything at St Michael’s continued smoothly and with great care. I am grateful for their commitment to keeping our school on task and thriving while I was away.

End Term 3

FRIDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER 2.00PM

As we come to the end of Term 3, it is a wonderful time to pause and reflect on all that has been achieved across our school community. This term has been filled with many memorable events and moments of celebration, as well as countless examples of learning and growth.

Our children have worked with consistency, determination, and enthusiasm, showing great progress in their learning and in their personal growth. Their achievements, both big and small, are a testament to their effort and resilience.

Behind this success is the unwavering dedication and passion of our teachers, who give so much of themselves to ensure every child feels cared for, supported, and challenged in their learning. Their commitment to fostering a positive and engaging environment is something we are truly grateful for.

We are also blessed by the commitment of our parents, who work in partnership with us to support their children. Your encouragement, involvement, and ongoing care make such a difference, and we thank you sincerely for the many ways you contribute to the life of our school.

Finally, I extend my thanks to our families for the support you show not only to your children, but also to our staff and leaders. Together, we create the strong, connected, and vibrant community that makes St Michael’s such a special place.

School Crossing Supervisor

Our School Crossing Supervisor has raised some concerns about families disregarding the traffic signals at the Abbotsford Street and Flemington Road crossing. The safety of our children is always our highest priority, and it is important that we all set the right example when out and about.

We ask parents, grandparents, and carers to please follow the traffic lights and crossing instructions carefully. Displaying safe behaviours not only keeps everyone out of harm’s way but also teaches our children the importance of respecting road rules.

It would be tragic for an avoidable accident to occur, so I thank all families for their cooperation and commitment to making safety a shared responsibility.

Footy Colours Day – Last Day of Term! 🏉⚽️🏆

We are excited to finish Term 3 with a celebration of one of Australia’s favourite pastimes—Footy Colours Day! On the last day of school, we invite all children (and families if you’re coming along) to wear their favourite team’s colours, scarves, jumpers, or beanies to school.

Whether you barrack for an AFL team, rugby, soccer, or another sporting code, this is a wonderful chance for our students to show their team spirit and enjoy the fun and friendly rivalry of the day.

Footy Colours Day is always a highlight for the children—it brings colour, laughter, and community spirit into our school as we celebrate together before the holidays.

We encourage all families to get involved and join in the fun. Let’s make our last day of Term 3 a vibrant and memorable one!

Melbourne Cup Tour

We are very privileged to be receiving a visit from the famous MELBOURNE CUP. The Cup has travelled all over Australia and overseas and will come to St Michael's on Tuesday, 7th October.

Get ready for some Cup Day fun! During the week, the children will be busy creating their very own Melbourne Cup hats, and they are also welcome to design Cup-inspired outfits over the holidays. We’d love our families to join in the excitement by dressing up and celebrating with us at our special Melbourne Cup assembly on the day—it promises to be a colourful and joyful event for all!

Have a wonderful week of  GREATNESS
