The Winter Sport season is nearly over! Here’s a quick update on how some of our teams are going as they head into the finals.

Netball Finals

We are very proud of our Griffins Netball teams, who have secured their place in the finals series. After a strong season, these teams will now compete for a spot in the next round.

Friday 5 September

A6 – Narrikup 8 vs Griffins 7 – 6.30pm, Court 7
D1 – Narrikup 14 vs Griffins 12 – 6.30pm, Court 1

Saturday 6 September

A3 – Griffins 4 vs Griffins 3 – 4.00pm, Court 5
B1 – Griffins 8 vs Kangas 8 – 1.00pm, Court 5
B2 – Royals 7 vs Griffins 9 – 11.30am, Court 5

We encourage our Griffins community to come along, wear your colours and show your support as our netballers head into finals.

Soccer Cup Round

A big congratulations to our Griffins Soccer teams on their efforts throughout the Winter Sport season. We are especially excited to share that our Under 12 Soccer team has progressed to the next Cup round. They will be playing Denmark Black on Saturday 6 September at 9.00am on Oval B1.

We encourage our Griffins community to come along and show your support.

Hockey Finals

It is an exciting time for our hockey teams:

The 7/8/9 Boys Blue and 7/8/9 Girls teams won their preliminary finals this week and have secured a place in the Grand Final in two weeks.
The 7/8/9 Boys Red will take on Mount Barker this Tuesday for their chance at a grand final spot.
Both our Under 18 Girls and Men’s B teams are currently sitting on top of the ladder with one game remaining – an excellent position leading into finals.

Well done to all teams – and best of luck for the upcoming matches. Go Griffins!

Volleyball Finals

Our Juniors reached the finals on Tuesday and put up a strong fight, but were defeated by Bethel in a tough match.
The Griffins White team played a thrilling semi-final against Lemmingos yesterday, narrowly missing out in a very close game.
The Men’s Premier team wrapped up their season with a hard-fought draw against the top side. It has been a fantastic season of growth and development for the group.

Congratulations to all our volleyball teams for their commitment and determination throughout the season.

Griffins Basketball Update

Team Allocations

Griffins Basketball teams are nearly at capacity for the 2025/26 season!

We still have a few spots available and would love your help filling them. We are currently looking for players in the following age groups:

U/10 Girls (Born 2017 or 2018)
U/12 Boys (Born 2015 or 2016)

Coaches and Managers Pre-Season Meeting

Wednesday 17 September at 6.30pm at Retravision Stadium

Uniforms – Last Chance to Order Shorts!

Orders close tomorrow, 5 September.

Players are required to supply their own shorts.

Volunteers Needed – Coaches and Team Managers

For a team to be registered, both a coach and a team manager must be in place. We are seeking volunteers to step into these vital roles and warmly encourage parents and community members to consider assisting. No prior experience is required – the Club provides full guidance and support to ensure you feel confident in your responsibilities.

Griffins Soccer are hosting the canteen on Saturday 13 September. We are looking for volunteers to help on the day.

Save the Date – Griffins Winter Sports Wind-Up

Griffins will be hosting the Winter Sports Wind-Up on Sunday, 21 September, in the multi-purpose sports complex at Great Southern Grammar.

The event will follow the same format as last year, with plenty of fun, celebrations and a chance to recognise the efforts of our players, coaches and volunteers throughout the season.

Griffins Hockey

Griffins Hockey is hosting the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association Awards Night on Saturday 13 September. It will be a great night with food, live music and prizes. Please see the link for tickets.

Griffins Merchandise and Uniforms

Players can order the Griffins training gear and supporter merchandise from the Griffins site Shop - Great Southern Griffins. A range of hoodies, tops, pants and accessories are available to buy. There are limited stocks of hoodies, but more will be added at the end of the month.
