Out and About

Debating

Our Year 7 and Senior teams made it into the Quarter Finals after Round 5 and were given some complex topics to debate for the conclusion of the season:

Year 7: That the South Australia Police should reinstate mandatory spelling and numeracy tests for recruits.

Seniors: That the ‘Enhanced Games’ is a worthwhile endeavour.

Despite valiant efforts from both teams, both the Year 7 and Senior teams suffered close losses to Unley High School and Westminster School respectively.

Although both teams lost in the Quarter Finals, the effort that both teams put into these difficult topics and the care placed into their presentations during the Quarter Finals, as well as the whole season, was nothing short of amazing.

The coaches are all immensely proud of what 7 Tigers and Senior Blue achieved and how strong they are:

7 Tigers – coached by

Mr Mitchell Wells

  • Neeti Patel
  • Karman Gill
  • Jia Benson
  • Subu Khadka

Senior Blue – coached by

Dr Tracie Whittle

  • Flynn Hutchinson
  • Samantha Perryman
  • Hayley Cheng
  • Alexandria Fechner

That means we conclude the 2025 Debating SA season, and what a season we've had!

From tough rounds, like Round 2, where nearly all of us lost to tough competition, to Rounds 4 and 5 where we nearly all won and to the many rounds where our debaters received many best speaker awards, students at Endeavour College have been a formidable group of talented debaters. Our growth over the last two terms has been noted by staff and parents alike.

I would like to acknowledge the commitment from our parents over the last six months.

Your attendance at debates is invaluable and as a school, we are proud and grateful for the strong presence of families at our debates.

Lastly, I also want to thank the coaching team for the time and dedication put into each team. Without the strong team of coaches that Endeavour College have been blessed with over the years, debating simply wouldn't happen.

The debating staff look forward to the 2026 season and the promise of continued growth.

Ministry Students at St Paul

On Wednesday of Week 7, Endeavour ministry students visited St Paul Blair Athol, to lead primary school chapel.

Scarlett Nuske and Alex Fechner led the chapel service, consisting of a theme verse complete with actions, a skit, and a message focused around what it means to be truly ‘good’ when it is often so hard.

The Endeavour Chapel Band led the students in two worship songs, creating a great atmosphere and were a highlight for everyone present.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with St Paul and look forward to joining with them for more chapel services in the future.

Elevate

Last Friday, the second Elevate worship took place at Golden Grove Lutheran Church. Elevate is an inter-church youth event held once a term, each time at a different local church for students from Year 6 to university age.

We started the night off with worship and a competitive quiz. Guest speaker Andrea Campbell, a member of Endeavour’s ministry team, spoke about John 15 and the idea of remaining in God’s love. Then there was a chance to eat some food, play table tennis and board games, and chat.

It was a great opportunity to meet people from different churches, schools, and communities and make new friends. We can’t wait for the next one in Term 4!

Staff Service Day:

Living Out Our Values

On Show Day, Endeavour College staff took part in our annual StaffService Day, stepping out into the community to live out our values of Love, Courage, Forgiveness, and Hope through service.

Staff supported organisations such as Baptist Care, Puddle Jumpers, Ingle Farm Family Zone, Lutheran Care and Oz Harvest, helping with tasks like cooking meals, sorting fruit, vegetables, clothing, and donations, and offering hands-on support wherever it was needed. These efforts not only provided practical help but also strengthened our partnerships with these important community groups.

By modelling compassion and generosity, our staff show students what it means to serve others and make a difference.

Thank you to all staff for giving their time and energy, and to our community partners for welcoming us so warmly.

Governor's Reception

On Wednesday evening Luke and I had the absolute privilege of attending the 2025 Governor's Reception, an annual event held for South Australian Year 12 leaders.

We had the opportunity to introduce ourselves to Her Excellency, and her husband Mr Bunten, and this was followed by nibbles, drinks, and a tour of the bottom floor of the Government House.

Her Excellency shared with us her journey of becoming Governor of South Australia, and the importance of leadership. She highlighted how valuable leadership is to a community and emphasised how blessed she is to personally connect with the future leaders of this generation. The event also included a panel of guest speakers who provided words of encouragement for the completion of the year ahead, and insight into how leaders can apply themselves to a higher regard.

The opportunity to interact with the leaders from other secondary schools across the state, and exchange ideas and tips for initiatives proved to be tremendously insightful and impactful.

We are both so blessed, thankful, and honoured to have had this opportunity.
