STEM
Last week in STEM, students worked together to recreate five main animal habitats using available materials. The habitats we learned about were desert, rainforest, grasslands, ocean and polar/tundra areas. We then, divided different animals into the different habitats and brainstormed other known animals.
This week in STEM, we created 3D habitats and filled them with animals which call the selected habitats home. Some examples of many animals added to mini habitats included; sloths, macaws, cheetahs, zebras, meerkats, camels, caribou, narwhals and plenty of snakes, scorpions and spiders!
In 3/4, students have been investigating and classifying different vertebrate animals into five groups of Birds, Reptiles, Amphibians, Mammals and Fish. We shared prior knowledge and learned different features of the different animal groups.
In 5/6, students have been researching how Australian animals have adapted either, physically or in their behaviour to best cope and successfully survive in nature.
