ARTS

In Art this week, we have been planning our jigsaw fruit bowls. Students in the junior classes prepared a draft still life collaging images of different fruits and were asked to also design a uniquely patterned bowl.

Following this preliminary step, students recorded their image as a line drawing, making careful observations and considerations of shape, size, detail, placement and layers. Our next task will see students transferring their line drawings onto pre-cut jig saw templates and completing the activity by painting their final pieces.

In the senior classes, we have been planning 'Memory Poles'. Students were asked to reflect on memories, achievements and future goals and record a pattern, colour or image to represent the different memories. Students were next tasked with the challenge to combine these representations into a cohesive and visually interesting design. The below photographs demonstrate some examples. The next phase of this project will be to record the designs onto upcycled carboard tubes and finish with paints.

It has been enjoyable to hear students sharing happy or memorable events/ moments with each other and to observe the connections and conversations sparked from shared experiences and surprising stories.
