What's On in Foundation

100 Days of Prep!

We are so proud of our Foundation students for celebrating their 100th Day of School on Tuesday! It has been so wonderful to see how much we have learnt and grown together over the past 100 days of school, each day full of excitement, discovery and fun.

Foundation students have loved beginning each morning by counting the days of school. We love counting each day by adding one paddle pop stick to our 100 days of school place value chart. Students loved also showing our days of prep by colouring in one counter at a time on our tens frames, building our counting skills to 100 and identifying how many days left until our party.

We have also loved exploring how to skip count all the way to 100 using 2's, 5's and 10's, drawing what we would look like as a 100 Year Old, thinking about what we could buy with $100, drawing groups of ten to create a 100 picture and making our 100 poster together using, you guessed it, 100 hearts!

On Tuesday 30th July, Foundation students celebrated their 100th Day of School! It was wonderful to see everyone coming to school in their fabulous 100 t-shirts and enthusiastic smiles. We were blown away with the creativity for how many different ways we can show and celebrate the number 100!

The excitement was electric as the time for our 100 Days of Prep ceremony approached. The Foundation students have practised for many weeks learning the words and actions for our song and dance, excitedly anticipating performing in front of family and friends. The highlight for many students was receiving their 100 Days of Prep certificate on stage from Mr Den Elzen and Mrs Majdan.

We had so much fun, we can't wait to see what else we learn this year!

Life Ed

Foundation students eagerly attended a Life  Education session that focused on healthy eating and healthy bodies. We were super excited to meet a very friendly giraffe called Harold.  He answered some very curious questions and was happy to have a pat from us all!

Students learnt about the importance of drinking water and how it helps our brains and bodies to function well. We placed body parts on a carpet body and talked about the ways our bodies absorb nutrients from the foods we eat. Students were confident in sorting foods into their food groups and created  posters on types of foods that are good for snacks, lunches, dinners and identifying sometimes foods.

We also moved our bodies and felt the positive effects of exercising. Students will continue to investigate the importance of healthy food choices and exercising in future classroom activities!
