A huge congratulations to Tully Bourke for placing 3rd in the Rodeo, and coming out as 5th overall in the Junior National Finals! We are immensely happy for you and wish you all the best with your passion and future in Rodeoing.
Welcome back everyone, to a big Term 3! I hope everyone is rested and gearing up for another jam-packed term. I am looking forward to seeing everyone back at school and upholding our College values: Respect, Resilience and Responsibility, across the school.
Morrisby: Year 9s will sit their unpack interviews on the 24th and 25th of July, next Wednesday and Thursday. Students sat their profiling last term and are very eager to find out the details of their results. During these unpack interviews, students will learn about the career paths recommended to their skills, interests and personalities, and discuss these options and ideas with a expert careers counsellor. Looking forward to seeing how students go!
Bogong Camp Notes: Thank you to all parents for being so diligent and consistent with getting notes returned early! Students are gearing up for an exciting camp back at Bogong Snow Camp in Week 6, from the 19th of August to the 23rd. Please make sure any questions regarding the camp are directed to Bailey Kemp or Darcy McCallum.
SMILE Squad: We have received contact from the Smile Squad saying that they are running ahead of schedule and would like to come earlier than planned for a full day on Thursday 25th of July and the morning of Friday 26th of July! They will be focusing on working with the Year 9 and 10s as they will miss out on their scheduled sessions due to their Snow Camp. The Smile Squad will then return the College from the 19th of August to the 23rd.
NCCD Netball:
On Tuesday, Charlton College had Senior and Intermediate Netball teams compete in the NCCD Netball against St Arnaud, Maryborough and Wycheproof. The Intermediate team took a bit of time to settle, however finished the first game strongly to come off with a convincing win. We took to the court with a variety of combinations with this team, almost everyone playing a couple of positions throughout the day. Sarah and Maggie did much of the goaling, although Taylah moved into the shooting circle in the final game. Sheena and Stella ran the attacking wing, and Taylah ran the centre for much of the day, coming up with many intercepts. Newbies to netball Heidi and Kaitlyn began on the defensive wing, however when Ruby fell and unfortunately broke her wrist in the second game, these two along with Josie rotated through, for what the boys would call “full back” where they assisted Sheena and Erin in Goal Defence. This crew worked extremely hard out on court and willingly worked on the little things, which saw each of them improve, none moreso than our newbies, Heidi and Kaitlyn.
A big thanks goes to Tahli for umpiring all our games and Claudia for her advice and encouragement from the sidelines. Thanks also to Andrew for scoring and Jennifer and Rachel for their support.
NCCD Football:
Tuesday 16th Junior boys travelled to St Arnaud to compete against Maryborough Education Centre for a place at the LMR level. We had 8 Charlton College Boys combine with St Arnaud to form a North Central team. Although the boys started the game slow, they combined to play some great team football in the second half and came away one point victors! The team will travel to Swan Hill in two weeks to compete at LMR level. Please keep an eye on Compass for details!
