Olympic fever peaked at IPS this week!
With Australia putting in an outstanding performance in the Olympics this year, it has generated much sporting excitment and fervour!
Last Friday we all got behind our national team to show our support #ALLEZAUS with Green and Gold Day!
As our students watch these Olympians with awe, they are reminded that the current medal tally is not an easy achievement. Olympians and paralympians are not successful just by chance. Of course, there is an element of natural talent and ability but that must be fed by values such as persistence, independence, confidence and resilience much like our school values.
These values were clearly on display this afternoon at the Year 3-6 Athletics Day. There were some superb performances and those who won ribbons should be very proud of their efforts as they have often put in much practise and demonstrated resilence during the times they didn't win but kept on going. Those who didn't get ribbons also made us proud. They too, were able to demonstrate persistence, resilience and respect.
IPS, you're an amazing team! Have a look at some of the wonderful moments from our Athletics Day.
Many thanks to staff and volunteers for making this such an enjoyable day and also to all the families who came along to cheer on our students!
Over the past couple of weeks there has been an Olympic theme to our learning at school. In last week's newsletter you might have read about the year 1 students' opening ceremony of the Potato Olympics. The main events took place today!
Today the year 1 students enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and participated in the inaugural 'Potato Olympics". The potato athletes were fighting fit and ready to win gold after a big rest in the Potato Olympic Village. After participating in 4 events, many met their demise in the final event 'The Spud Put'.
Well done to all of the Grade 1s for showing amazing sportsmanship and being so resilient!
Whilst not yet an olympian, Ivy in 6H was selected to represent Victoria in the National Basketball Championships and spent a week competing in Queensland.
She was part of a highly successful team, beating SA, NSW, WA and ACT and just missed out on a win to QLD. Ivy secured a silver medal in the Australian National Championships.
Well done Ivy - what an amazing achievement! Perhaps one day we will all be cheering you on at a future Olympics!
At IPS we embrace the many talents and hard work of our students. One very early morning this week before school had started, our Cellists could be found working together to practise as a team too! They have to work hard to play as part of a team just like athletes, the practise, fail, try again and keep practising until they can perfect their performance.
Our Corelli Strings group will be performing at assembly this Monday morning and we look forward to hearing the orchestra perform in a few week's time at assembly. Everyone is welcome!
DRESS UP DAY!
Our Book Week dress up parade will be happening on Friday the 23rd of August during Week 6 of this term. As a school, we will be celebrating Book Week throughout the week with a range of activities. More information on the Book Week page of this newsletter.
The theme this year is: ‘Reading is Magic’
Pokemon cards have become very popular once again in the playground.
Unsurprisingly there have been a lot of problems with trading and cards going missing which has been interrupting learning time and causing distress.
Trading is not allowed under any circumstances and please remind your children to keep their very special cards at home.
If trading does not stop there will be a school-wide ban for Pokemon cards.
I'm making a hairy sacrifice and joining the World's Greatest Shave!
Big or small, every donation counts to help beat blood cancer and I would love your support.
You can help me make a difference by donating to my fundraising page.

Yes. I am going to shave my head. I am filled with trepidation. But I'm doing it.
One of my children, Heidi, will be doing it too. Heidi looked at me with a hand on my arm and said "we'll do it for Pop" ❤️
So... Let's raise a whole load of money to fight this nasty disease that has taken so much from so many! The plan is for the shaving to take place around my late dad's birthday, 29th August. The countdown is on! 😅🪒
Please donate to if you can!
Thank you - Kirstie Fray

We have many jobs to be completed, including the planting of 200 plants that have been donated to us from the council.
WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP TO PLANT THEM!!!
The BBQ will be on with sausages cooking, so look out for the jobs list on compass, and come down to lend a hand a grab a sausage.
Please come along to help. Bring your children so they can help too and bag some extra house points!
