From the Houses

Rice House
Seniors Rice House students have enjoyed an extremely busy Term 3 so far. The boys have been utilizing both the commons rooms and their rooms to study as the Year 11s prepare for their preliminary exams and the year 12s continue their studies post-trials, and they continue to receive feedback. The boys have enjoyed the recent sunny weather, soaking it up and playing basketball and ping pong. There have been many discussions among the year 10 students about the selection of their subjects, as they prepare to move into their last years of schooling. Good luck to all of Rice House and their study endeavors!
Angus, Ollie, Billy, Archi, and Kai represented KCC playing Rugby league in the Country Cup.
KCC played against schools from 3 other regions and were unlucky not to advance, after beating the eventual winner, Kiama.
Jeremy represented KCC in basketball at a Gala Day in Albury. Up against strong opposition, the KCC team struggled, but Jeremy said it was an enjoyable day.
In the Open Boys Hockey competition, MEBS has 6 students playing. Anthony, Mac, and Campbell are playing for MDCC, while Dusty, Albert, and Billy will be playing for KCC. There will be much interest in the game when they come up against each other.
The KCC Creed Cup soccer team included Ronan and Ewan. KCC won 2 games and lost 1 to miss out on the final. Ronan scored two goals for the tournament, while Ewan scored one.
Congratulations to Will for completing his HSC major work, his hard work and dedication have paid off. His solid timber dining table and bench seat look amazing. Well done Will.
Term 3 began well for the junior boys. It has been a busy time with many things happening. The Year 7’s have been extremely busy completing their homework in study time, using the time well. All the boys have enjoyed the recent sunny weather and the activities on offer, including playing foosball and watching movies, playing badminton, or shooting baskets in the courtyard. The Year 8 boys have begun their subject seminars. There have been discussions about choosing subjects they will study in Years 9 and 10.
A number of the Year 9’s have been involved with school excursions and extracurricular activities that have been keeping them very busy.
Kieran was part of a Kildare group of students who traveled to the Falls Creek snow fields recently with his year 9 Pass class. He enjoyed the experience and had a great time.
Sam represented KCC recently in basketball played at a Gala Day in Albury. Sam said he enjoyed his time and loved his trip.
All the Junior boys have been extremely fortunate to have access to an array of activities such as the PCYC - pickleball, the KCC courts - a mixture of football, netball, and activities.
A huge congratulations and well done to Stonny for winning the Boarding Excellence Award. Sonny has demonstrated this through his compassion and kindness towards other boarders and following instructions at all times.

Nagle House
It has been lovely to see the sun out in the last few weeks and it has had a positive effect on our boarders. The term is flying by and the girls have kept busy. Sadly it is not long before our Year 12s will be doing final exams and we will be saying goodbye. Our boarding community is what makes Nagle House so special and this term we have made some new happenings that will form memories.
At the start of term, we welcomed Laura who has settled into boarding well and celebrated her birthday with her peers. She has already made some great friends.
The Year 12s started their HSC Trial Exams in Week 3, the girls were given “HSC Survival Kits” with everything they would need to help them through the exam period. At the time of publishing the Year 12s will have finished their Trials and will be preparing for their HSC exams which begin in Term 4. We wish all Year 12 students the very best with their exams.
Nagle House Karaoke night enjoyed great participation, especially from the junior girls. There was a huge selection of songs on offer for the girls to sing along to, including Queen, Disney songs, rock anthems, 80s pop, and more. But by far the most popular artist of the night was ABBA. Everyone sang along when Waterloo and Mamamia were played. All the girls got up and had a go at a song of their choice, they had great fun and we hope to organize another karaoke night in the future.
During the term, the girls in Years 10, 11 & 12 were given an informative PPEP talk which they found very informative. We were also given some useful resources.
Malle and Ella started this jigsaw at the beginning of the term. It has really tested all our skills and patience but the girls persevered and it was finally finished last week.
Our common area has the addition of an Olympic flag which Australian gold recipients were added as the games progressed. It has been exciting to see so many gold medals Australia won and will continue throughout the Paralympics.
Scarlett recently competed in the Eisteddfod in Leeton competing against Leeton High School and primary school despite the tough competition Kildare came out on top.
I had the opportunity to sing:
Found/Tonight
Story of my life
Winter Hymnal
Cups it was such a great experience and I would definitely do it next year!!!

Life As A Boarder
For those who live far away, Mount Erin Boarding School is certainly the place to be. You may be scared at first to go to a boarding school, like you might miss your family, but as you get to know everyone, they all become your friends and it is like just having a big sleepover every night! (for four nights a week).
Instead of having to catch a bus and wake up early in the morning, with all the stress that you will miss your bus, you could just wake up at the boarding house and be able to get to school way quicker than any other day student. Also, you get lunch orders every single day at school.
Living at Mount Erin Boarding School has definitely helped us with being independent, choosing what we eat and drink, and being responsible for packing our own bags both for school and for the boarding house.
Boarding has also helped us socialize more instead of being on our phones the whole time, it has also helped us make new friends. MEBS provides a lot of opportunities including access to sports or an after-school activity you would like to attend. Once a Week we can go downtown for about an hour each week. We have the opportunity to buy necessities that we may need or just buy an ice cream or an after-school snack.
It is an experience you will never forget!
So far it has been a great term and we look forward to what the rest of the term will bring.
