Celebrating History: The Year 8 Medieval Festival 

Last term in Year 8 HASS, our students completed a unit on Medieval Europe. As a culmination of that unit, Year 8 students were tasked with bringing history to life; recreating the sights, sounds, flavours and fun of a traditional medieval festival. 

The preparations began weeks in advance. Students were divided into groups, each responsible for researching and recreating different aspects of medieval life. Some groups focused on creating authentic food and drink, while others worked on constructing replicas of medieval activities and even punishments. Each group was required to present an informative poster about their chosen activity and facilitate a safe re-creation of it for the guests.  

Highlights included the puppet theatre with multiple historically relevant scripts, throwing wet sponges at ‘criminals’ in the stocks, knight training in archery, jousting and dancing to music. 

More than just a fun event, the festival provided an opportunity for Year 8 students to showcase their knowledge in an immersive, educational experience, fostering community and teamwork. The festival has certainly been a memorable event and we look forward to running it again in the years to come.  

Secondary Expo Evening

The Secondary Expo Evening will be a night dedicated to our students showcasing their work to their parents and peers, and an opportunity for our 2025 students to see what Secondary is all about.  

We can't wait to see you there on Tuesday 20th August from 7pm in the Secondary building!

Reggie Dabbs at Gateway Church

Gateway Church Devonport would like to invite our school community to an awesome weekend we have coming up with REGGIE DABS! 

Reggie Dabbs is one of the most sought-after speakers around the world and visited us at DCS just last year! The NW Coast of Tasmania is so blessed to have him back with us in a few weeks time. We are looking forward to coming together to lift up the name of Jesus and hear from Reggie Dabbs in a powerful way.
