Special Events and Mount View

Our school community enjoys celebrating special events which provide our students with opportunities to learn and contribute beyond the classroom. Many of these events are led by our students including this week’s Pyjama Day. Please enjoy reading this reflection from SRC leaders Iroshi and Harvey:

On a day full of enjoyment and creative outfits, on Tuesday 6th of August our school, Mount View Primary School, hosted a pyjama day from the SRCs to raise money for the Pyjama Foundation . With a massive $654.60 donation towards the children in foster care. Our school was also filled with promised excitement as people wore their best pyjamas.

SRC leaders, Iroshi and Harvey, have always wanted to plan the pyjama day ever since they got selected but why did they want it you may ask? “I just enjoy the feeling of people expressing themselves with unique outfits to create a sense of diversity and what better way to do that than wearing cosy pyjamas on a cold day in winter and raising money towards others in need?” Harvey replied. The SRCs and SRC leaders went on leading pyjama day, first raising awareness of the upcoming event by spreading the word by posters, a reminder to the Mount View community and announcing it to the entire school the day before the event. With a heavy reminder and promised fun many people were just anticipating pyjama day the next day.

On the day to begin, Shepherds Road was filled with many kids from ages 5 to 12 wearing pyjamas, school uniforms or any type of sleepwear like everyone was bedraggled out of bed (in a good way). Out of the 1000 kids around at least 50% brought a gold coin (or cents) to contribute to $654.60 towards the Pyjama Foundation. However crazy the school looked Mount View still continued with their own schedules whether it was running in a onesie in physical education or rehearsing dramatic scenes in cosy sleepwear in performing arts or even painting self portraits in a sleep gown. As the day went on the students could gradually feel the aura of pyjamas spreading around and by lunch our school was filled with pleasure hitting a huge success towards the SRC and those who joined in.

A great thanks to all the donations, teachers and principals who went forward on the idea, and the students whether wearing pyjamas or not on celebrating 2024’s pyjama day

100 Days of School

There was a lot of excitement last Friday when the Preps celebrated 100 Days of School. They had a great day of learning and celebration of all things 100 which culminated in a bubble dance party and a performance at the junior assembly. Thank you to our teachers who continue to support our prep students to help them be such confident learners and kind and caring friends

Congratulations Heath

A special congratulations to Heath Bower for being the winner of Hard Quiz Kids. You can watch Heath’s episode from July 27 on ABC iView where he shared his deep knowledge of Puffing Billy. Congratulations Heath from everyone at Mount View.
