WELCOME BACK!

T3 2024

Welcome back to Term 3!

Can you believe we are already half way through the school year? Again, it will be a busy term of wonderful learning as well as special whole school events including: Book Week, Bullying No Way! Day, School Photos, Sports Day and Colour Fun Run – please keep an eye on the school Facebook page and your child’s class communication pages for more information.

Congratulations to Mrs Sarah Kemp who has been successful in being re-appointed as our Coordinator for Wellbeing and Aboriginal Education for the next 3 years. This is a very well-deserved and welcome re-appointment as Sarah is well known to our community and does an amazing job in supporting our students, families and staff!

Positive Behaviour for Learning

The first half of this term our high behaviour expectations focus is ‘Have reasons for the things you say and do!’

Staff are busy discussing, teaching, modelling and developing understandings about what this looks like and sounds like in all aspects of our school day and providing positive feedback and acknowledgements when students display this.

As we have been done each term this year, classes will suggest and vote on a whole school celebration to enjoy when we achieve our whole school behaviour goal. Last term our students and staff had great fun enjoying a whole school game of ‘hide n seek.’ We look forward to their choice to celebrate half way through this term!

Communication Reminders

There are many ways that we communicate with families including:

  • Class social media pages e.g. Facebook or SeeSaw. This is left to teacher choice as to which platform they prefer to use for communication.
  • Whole School Facebook page
  • Every child is provided with a school diary
  • Class Term overviews of learning
  • Audiri (Formally Skoolbag)
  • Emails
  • Phone calls and face to face meetings
  • Personal responses to messages
  • ‘Meet and Greet’ meetings in Term 1
  • Formal Interviews in Term 3
  • Written reports 2 times per year
  • Class Newsletters
  • School Newsletter
  • Termly Fridge Calendar of events

School Facebook page vs Class Facebook or SeeSaw pages for communication

The school Facebook group is to share information that involves the whole school or a number of classes/year levels across the school. Some examples of this include: Sports Day, Swimming/Aquatics, Whole school performances etc.

We also share photos and videos of learning activities and photos of special events for parents that are not able to attend face to face.

Class Facebook groups/SeeSaw groups are set up to share information specific to your child’s class or year levels. Teachers will post important information that you need to know relevant to your child’s class, snippets of class learning and will also add posts from the whole school Facebook page as reminders.

Many times, we have had parents post questions on the whole school Facebook page that are only relevant to a specific year level (eg. Graduation). Please direct these more specific questions to your child’s class or year level communication pages or you can message your child’s teacher directly.

We always endeavour to advertise events in multiple ways e.g. notes/email letters/posts on main FB page and posts on class FB pages so that if the paper copies get lost parents can also make sure they are regularly checking the class and school social communication channels.

Staff will respond to personal messages as promptly as they can, however please be mindful that this cannot always be immediate. They will not respond late at night, during their downtime over the weekend or during their face-to-face teaching time. If you need to contact the school or teacher in an emergency, we kindly ask that you call the front office.

We appreciate any feedback you have to help us mutually communicate in even better ways. Please feel free to catch one of the leadership team or chat to one of our Governing Council members.

Kind regards,

Ms Sally

Principal
