Junior Girls AFL

June 6 2024

It gave me great pleasure to see the enthusiasm shown by East Doncaster’s Year 7  and Year 8 girls this year in the Division AFL competition. There were 24 girls who tried out and attended the competition at the Koonung Reserve this year.

All girls played in a wonderfully competitive spirit some playing Aussie Rules for the first time. We had Imogen and Ayeh come along from Year 10 to coach the girls and they did a tremendous job. These girls were supported by Mr Bond on the sidelines making changes where necessary.

East Doncaster was incredibly competitive on the day winning two of their three matches. It was unfortunate that Blackburn High School took the honours on the day, but it was not without a strong fight from our girls.

Special mentions go the coaches, Mr Bond and the following girls for demonstrating excellent Endeavor and skill on the day. Those girls included Tara, Greta, Giselle and the two sisters Charlotte and Aisha.

Well Done to all…

EDSC Success at the 2024 SSV State Cross Country Championships

Two of our most talented distance runners represented the College in the SSV Cross Country State Championships held at the Yarra Valley Racecourse during Week 1 of Term 3. In cold, muddy and uncomfortable conditions, our students represented EDSC with pride and passion - pitting themselves against the best cross country runners in the state. Results from the day are as follows:

  • Daniel - 13th Boys 12-13 Years
  • Ryan - 59th Boys 12-13 Years

These are an outstanding set of results from our students and as a College we congratulate them - well done! Finishing in the top 30 is a significant achievement at this level.  We look forward to watching the progress of these students in the coming years.
