National Tree Day

Tree Planting Excursion - Student Reports

The Tree Planting Excursion was held on Sunday, 16 June, with the aim of planting saplings in an open and widespread farm in Broadford so that when they grow up to become trees, they suck more carbon dioxide from and release more oxygen (which we breathe) into the atmosphere. I participated in this excursion mainly because I wanted to contribute to the well-being of our community while having fun with friends on a beautiful Sunday, but also because I am a travel enthusiast and love to explore different places. During the excursion, there were several fun and engaging activities which we got the opportunity to involve in. Broadly, we got the experience of digging a hole using modified versions of a shovel, planting saplings in those holes, and covering them to protect them from rabbits. The activities themselves were such a pleasurable experience, but my most favourite part of the day was getting a chance to sit in different 4WDs including Pajero, HiLux, LandCruiser, and BT-50. The members of the Pajero 4WD club were also so friendly and fun to have a chat with. Furthermore, it was a unique experience being at a place away from the suburbs. The atmosphere there just felt different since there were a lot of trees, and it was as wonderful as a sightseeing spot or a lookout point.

At tree planting I had a lot of fun and created a lot of new friendships. The food was great. I learnt a lot of new things such as how to pat down the soil when you plant a new plant. IT WAS SO FUN!
