Welcome to Ivanhoe Primary School,

It is important that all students are taught what is expected of them and have opportunities to practise expected behaviours. A key role of all school staff is to set high expectations for behaviour and learning across the whole school community and for all students. Having clear expectations for behaviour allows schools to provide consistency in what they teach, acknowledge and correct in terms of student behaviour.

For example: Be safe, be respectful, be responsible. Students are explicitly taught the expectations, and what each expectation looks like and sounds like.

Providing students with positive reinforcement for expected behaviours is one of the quickest and easiest ways to improve classroom behaviour and develop a positive classroom environment. Everyone needs positive feedback to learn and maintain a behaviour or skill.

The emphasis at IPS on behaviour support is based upon one’s responsibilities and accountability, restorative processes and a supporting framework that provides clarity and consistency to all stakeholders. Equally our processes are designed to highlight and acknowledge positive actions.

Disco

The School Disco was a tremendous success as a result of a lot of organisational work by our PFA, parent and staff volunteers, our canteen and our wonderful volunteer teacher DJs Ms Haynes and Mrs Blanas.

232 students attended first session (42 Gr 3)

205 students attended second session (28 Gr 3)

A great result for our IPS community. It was a positive experience created by everyone that helped out. Well done.

100 Days of School for Foundation Students

Happy 100 Days!

This week Foundation students and teachers celebrated 100 days at school. What a great day we had celebrating!

Students looked amazing, thank you for your efforts in dressing up! They definitely looked and played the part of a 100-year-old, entering the classroom very slowly and steadily, some holding their backs and walking sticks.

We paraded our costumes in the morning and throughout the day we read 100-day stories, created 100-day bracelet, shared our ‘100 things’ and our favourite part of all was making fairy bread with “100’s and 1000’s”.

The teachers had lots of fun too, dressing up and celebrating this special milestone with Foundation students!

Students proudly took home their 100th day certificate and are excited to keep counting to see how many more days left of Foundation!

A Splash of Green and Gold Day this Friday

Who's been watching the Olympics? #ALLEZAUS

This Friday 2nd August across Australia is GREEN AND GOLD DAY.

If they would like to participate, IPS students can wear a splash of Green and Gold on Friday to show their support of the Australian team.

OSHC Educators Day Wednesday 31st July

Thank you to all OSHC Educators who work here at IPS. Wednesday was OSHC Educators Day. We recognise and value the significant contribution of our OSHC provides to the IPS community.

BOOK WEEK 17th to the 23rd August

DRESS UP DAY!

Our Book Week dress up parade will be happening on Friday the 23rd of August during Week 6 of this term. As a school, we will be celebrating Book Week throughout the week with a range of activities. More information on the Book Week page of this newsletter.

The theme this year is: ‘Reading is Magic’

Term 3 Working Bee

We have our Term 3 working bee fast approaching on -

Saturday 17th August 3-5pm.

We have many jobs to be completed, including the planting of 200 plants that have been donated to us from the council (subject to delivery time).

The BBQ will be on with sausages cooking, so look out for the jobs list on compass, and come down to lend a hand a grab a sausage.

Walkathon is coming

Athletics Day 3- 6 Canteen News

The Canteen will be open at the Athletics track on the 8th August.

Pokemon Cards at School

Pokemon cards have become very popular once again in the playground.

Unsurprisingly there have been a lot of problems with trading and cards going missing which has been interrupting learning time and causing distress.

Trading is not allowed under any circumstances and please remind your children to keep their very special cards at home.

If trading does not stop there will be a school-wide ban for Pokemon cards.

Yes. I am going to shave my head. I am filled with trepidation. But I'm doing it.

One of my children, Heidi, will be doing it too. Heidi looked at me with a hand on my arm and said "we'll do it for Pop" ❤️

So... Let's raise a whole load of money to fight this nasty disease that has taken so much from so many! The plan is for the shaving to take place around my late dad's birthday, 29th August. The countdown is on! 😅🪒
