Bonjour Parents and Students!

Welcome to Term 3 Week 4.

We are so happy to watch our students grow in their knowledge and skill of French, and here is what they have done in the past two weeks.

Prep students learned about expressing their likes and dislikes in French, they practiced using sentence stems with fruit vocabulary they had learned in week 1. They also learned about key phrases to talk about themselves and completed a All About Me worksheet in French.

Grade 1 students revised vocabulary including words that show good manners and months of the year. They are starting to use simple French words like thank you, you are welcome, excuse, etc in class. They also completed activities to practice months of the year while exploring how seasons are different in the northern and southern hemisphere.

Grade 2 students spent two weeks learning about body parts, including naming them and writing sentences about what body parts they have.

Grade 3 students continued looking at animals and adjectives. They were taught a wide range of animals including wild animals, pets and insects, and adjectives that describe animals. They completed a collaborative project of making poster to present their favourite animal in French and English.

Grade 4 students did Sound Pack in French, they practiced pronouncing different letter combination sounds in French such as ou, oi, ain, etc. With more practice, they will be able to pronounce correctly French words they don’t know. They also did a revision lesson on the gender agreement on adjectives, which was an extension based on Grade 3 adjective lesson.

Grade 5 and 6 students finally finished learning all regular verb groups! They now can conjugate ALL regular French verbs following the sets of rules. Grade 6s are so good at conjugation as it is their second time learning it. They then learned/relearned the 5 French accents and understood the function of accents on words.
