Wellbeing

In the last newsletter I focused on What is Well-Being?

Flourishing is a key component of positive mental health both for adults and children.

Flourishing is a state of ‘being’ rather than a feeling or experience.

Flourishing is the process of developing the capacities and potential to live well.

It is about- What gives our lives meaning and purpose.

It is characterized by the development of positive emotions along with positive relationships and friendships and qualities such as Gratitude, Kindness, Resilience, Empathy, Caring and Open Mindedness which all help to develop good mental and physical health.

At St.Bernard's we promote flourishing in children in our everyday learning and interpersonal relationships at school;- through our focus on the importance of Wellbeing and modeling positive relationships and friendships, our Catholic education ethos and values, our Social Emotional Learning programs and Respectful Relationships program.

A little challenge for the week: How can we focus more on how we are promoting and seeking flourishing in our own families and supporting each other to live our best lives.

Attached below is a graphic to highlight what children need for their Wellbeing and to fully flourish.

Have a great week
