Mural
We are extremely excited to announce that the mural on campus by Sandon Gibbs-O'Neill, Burruguu Art has been completed! If you haven't already checked it out, please come and have a look at this impressive artwork. Sando is a Nhunggabarra man from Nhunggal country, he has lived in Orange majority of his life and was taught how to paint by his late Grandfather, Tex Skuthorpe, whose legacy continues to inspire him today.
The mural depicts the story of our school, with the student and the centre. Tracks lead to supports and other Orange schools are represented top right as they are a part of our school community. The river symbolises that we are on Wiradjuri country, the land of the three rivers and the guuga (goanna) is the totem for Wiradjuri people.
Soon you will see staff wearing the design on shirts and jumpers - thanks to Miss Krissie for organising.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is an activity in our School Improvement Plan. We have a committee that has been working hard to boost recycling efforts throughout the school.
Our Return and Earn program is an essential part of this initiative. Students from Class 7 are our recycling monitors, diligently collecting recyclable items twice a week. Special thanks to Mrs Vanstone and Mrs Wykes for coordinating this effort and incorporating it into a valuable learning experience. Mr Low has organised a roster system allowing different classes to take the bins out to Wangarang and claim the cash. We earn around $25 for one full bin!
A reminder to families to pop eligible plastic and glass bottles, cans and cartons in the bins at any of our 3 transport areas (Main site Anson Street, main site Lords Place, or Campus). A massive shout out the local rugby league clubs, Orange United Sports Club Inc, Orange Hawks RLFC, and Orange CYMS RLFC for supporting us by having our bins at their local games. We are thrilled to announce that the funds raised through this program will be used to purchase new items for the students, benefiting our entire school community.

National Education Summit
Last week, we presented at the National Education Summit in Brisbane on 'The Just Right Challenge (not breakfast related),' focusing on strategies to help our diverse learners thrive. We shared our comprehensive whole school approach, unpacking our 3-tiered system, considering strategies to support communication, regulation and skill development. Educators from diverse settings across Australia and New Zealand, including mainstream schools and universities, attended our session. They provided positive feedback and actively sought further advice afterward. On the second day we were able to attend cutting-edge professional development across key themes in K-12 education.
We were thrilled to be given the opportunity to highlight our amazing students and school community. Shout out to Mrs Hodder and Mrs Huggett for helping us prepare.

Primary Principals’ Day
Primary Principals’ Day Australia 2024 is an annual event that serves as a celebration of the work of primary school principals all across the country. It helps to highlight the crucial work they do in steering a school towards success, and supporting the fabulous cast of teachers and support staff that make our schools what they are.
Thank you to Mrs Hudson who is Relieving Principal while Mrs Meers is on leave.

Art on Anson opening
Last Friday we opened the 18th annual Art on Anson exhibition in the school hall. Staff, ex-students and members of the community came together to view the incredible artworks on display. Thank you to Sandon Gibbs-O'Neill who officially opened the show with words of awe and respect for the students and the artworks they have produced. And a big thankyou to Cathy Huggett (Art Support Officer) for her creative talents in bringing it all together in yet another amazing display.
