We had a Year 7 boys and girls table tennis team head to Dandenong Table Tennis Association to compete against the local schools in the division. Students demonstrated some excellent racquet skills engaging in some tough rallies. It was great to see the camaraderie and sportsmanship between the students. This spirit epitomizes the enjoyment in representing the college at school sport.
We also had 2 boys and girls basketball teams head to Casey Stadium, where they were involved in some tight games. Students represented themselves and the college fantastically and we look forward to watching the grow and develop as their school journey continues.
Finally, the Year 7 futsal teams travelled to Soccer 5's in Dandenong. This is the first time futsal has been a part of our division sport and it was excellent to see the engagement and uptake by students to be involved in the sport. Students learn some valuable lessons about the pace of the game and displayed resilience throughout.
Well done to all the Year 7 sports teams, we look forward to working with you throughout your school journey.
Year 8 sport followed, with the Year 8s showcasing some exceptional table tennis skills, with both our boys and girls A teams progressing to the region stage of the competition on the 1st of November at Dandenong Table Tennis Centre. At futsal our girls team made it to the final narrowly losing to Hampton Park, while our boys' team learnt some vital lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship. We also had 2 boys basketball teams in action at Springers Leisure Centre where students had an enjoyable day and relished the opportunity to play against friends and foes.
The Division Athletics took place on Monday the 9th of September where we had 47 students compete in a range of track and field events. The student represented themselves excellently all day showcasing the values of the college. It was particularly pleasing to see students supporting each other and cheering them on in their events. We had some standout performances throughout the day with numerous students winning multiple medals. The region stage of the competition takes place on the 10th of October, we look forward to seeing if our students can challenge for a place at the state finals. Well done to all who participated.
Our Year 8 girl's tennis team travelled to Pakenham Tennis Centre for the region stage of the competition where they came up against Kambrya and McKinnon. The girls put in a lot of effort practising in the lead up to the event and have forged some strong relationships through this experience. They had a fantastic day out and I'm sure learnt a lot from the experience that they can carry into 2025.
