VET Students: Active Volunteering, SWL & 4C's
This year’s Certificate II in Active Volunteering students assisted in the logistics of the 4C's event through handing out wristbands, putting together gift bags and assisting guests to their seats.
Students took part in The Summit and supported the work around Youth Wellbeing by participating in all the activities that took place on the day. Our excursion to the VicHealth Casey Summit resulted in our students meeting their outcomes for the following units:
Our students welcomed all the schools as they arrived and to support the OHS process, lined up the students and they fastened the bands on each of the students. They assisted staff with setting up their wellbeing spaces and activities and later promoted the importance of the event by participating with students from other schools in assigned activities. Congratulations to all the students who have actively demonstrated the skills for each outcome while at the VicHealth Summit.

Unit 3/4 VCAA Exams
With the school assessed coursework for Units 3 and 4 now finalised, and the VCAA examination period fast approaching, practice exams have begun, continuing throughout the September holidays with a scheduled examination period that replicates the VCAA exam conditions. All students will by now have received the VCAA Exam Navigator booklet. This booklet outlines the VCAA exam rules, examination dates and times, and approved materials and equipment. It is important that both students and parents familiarise themselves with the information contained in this booklet and if required questions are asked.
To further support students with their preparation for the VCAA exams, free online revision lectures have been offered or are available and subject teachers are working tirelessly with their classes to review key skills and key knowledge delivered throughout the year. We would like to wish all students the best of luck with their final exams and to remind them that the finishing line is in sight you are almost there! Keep pushing forward and keep giving it your all.
Year 12 VCE VM
City Race:
On September the 11th over 100 Year 12 VCE/VM students made their way by train to the Melbourne CBD where they enthusiastically engaged in a race around the Melbourne City. The first half of the day students worked in groups to create directions to various landmarks around the area, at the halfway mark students returned to Federation Square where they swapped directions with other groups and then the race to complete a route provided by another group ensued. Smiles abounded as students demonstrated dimension, direction and problem solving as part of their Numeracy outcome 2 assessment. Teachers who supervised the day remarked on the fun had by all and the maturity with which this task was carried out, whilst students practiced their numeracy skills in the real world.
Mock Interviews
On September the 18th approximately 125 Year 12 VCE/VM students participated in Mock Interviews as part of their Unit 4 Work Related Skills assessment. Students dressed to impress for their job interviews with Senior teachers and leaders. Students prepared portfolios which included resumes, cover letters and articles which showcased their school and work-related achievements. These interviews allowed students to practice their interview skills in a real life setting and practice utilizing portfolios as part of this process. Teachers were very impressed as reflected by the following feedback by Student Voice Leader Mr Culbert who interviewed on the day “The students I interviewed were brilliant. They were well presented, prepared and articulate in their responses. Credit to the students and their teachers who obviously did a great job preparing them”.
