Life Choices Incursion
Early this week we were extremely fortunate to have Andrew Fisher from Life Choices Foundation come to speak to the Year 9s about the importance and consequences of life's significant choices, sharing his personal experiences and encouraging students to consider and choose a life pathway that is right for them. Andrew's presentation was inspiring, challenging our students to consider negative influences that can impact their decision making, self-image, values and beliefs. He wowed us with his beautiful racing car, which certainly drew a crowd when it roared to life. We certainly look forward to having Andrew back to speak with CESC students in future years!
The 4C's Showcase
All different cultures were celebrated and admired once again through our students participating in The 4C's Showcase at Bunjil Place. Out of the 135 participants from Cranbourne East Secondary College, over 30 students attended from Year 9, performing on Monday September 9th to a crowd of family, friends, and peers. Our students performed beautifully, bringing colour, dance, song, and culture to the stage.
The Year 9 cohort want to thank all CESC staff and parents who have supported our students and their involvement through supervising performance practices, sourcing resources for the performance night, and liaising with Laitini (aka Miss Tia) the amazing founder and director of 4C's. Our excitement for future participation is only ignited further as we are in awe of all 2024 performances.
The Lambros Army incursion
Earlier this term, the Year 9s welcomed two brothers known as ‘The Lambros’ who spoke to the students about persistence, resilience, and setting and achieving challenging goals. The Lambros completed a 100-day challenge to run 3,331km from Perth to St Kilda in an effort to raise $100,000 for Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) to support cancer research and make a difference to those suffering from the deadly disease. Having recently lost family and friends to cancer, the two brothers were determined to make a difference, quitting their jobs to undertake the journey. Their inspiring story spoke to the students about pushing through mental barriers to achieve difficult goals, directly relating to our current Challenges unit that students are studying in Pathways 2 Success.
Year 10
It is the end of another busy term. In Term 3 students completed course counselling and are now waiting for their Year 11 subjects to be confirmed mid Term 4. There was the school production, a 4 Cs performance and the State Schools Spectacular, RUOK day and the Celebration assembly.
