Student Wellbeing and Engagement

Term 3 has been a busy term for our Wellbeing and Engagement Team. Our lunchtime groups have continued to run throughout the term, with new groups such as the Garden Club starting soon. Students have also continued to enjoy Breakfast Club with Toasty Tuesdays being a hit with staff and students alike.

This term also saw the Love Bites Program run for a second year in a row. The program is designed to promote and educate students on respectful relationships in an effort to address/educate young people on gender-based violence. It was wonderful to see our students engaging well with the content and messaging of the program and demonstrating the school values.

Additionally, Term 3 saw our Year 9 students participate in various Wellbeing workshops/presentations including Batyr and the Pat Cronin Foundation. These organisations worked with our students to promote good mental health, as well as the importance of being positive role models and supporting peers/friends in need.

During week 7 of the term we have been celebrating Positivity Week.  The aim of the week is to encourage students to create and maintain positive connections/relationships with their peers and school community. A range of lunchtime activities have been on offer such as bingo, Uno tournaments, basketball competitions, rock painting and a Henna workshop. It has been fantastic seeing so many of our students getting involved and enjoying the activities on offer.

Lastly, towards the end of term, the College will be celebrating Wear It Purple Day and R U OK? Day. Our Rainbow Club will be holding a luncheon for members and allies on Monday 2nd September, and the SRC will be working alongside the Wellbeing Team as ambassadors for R U OK? Day. We look forward to these great events/days as we continue to encourage all students to get involved in what the college has on offer!

La Trobe University X Tech Schools Sustainability Challenge

Our students, Sara, Lily, Muhammad and Christian had the exciting opportunity to join a collaborative initiative between La Trobe University and the Whittlesea & Banyule Nillumbik Tech Schools, in collaboration with Crazy Ideas College.

Their project centred on biodiversity, culminating in the creation of a prototype model and a presentation to a panel of experts. Muhammad stood out as the best speaker, earning a La Trobe hoodie for his amazing performance.

In a spirited competition among schools, our ECSC students excelled, winning all their mini challenges!
