Assistant Principal's News

Josie Burt

Hello Families, what a productive and engaging term we have had so far!

It has been wonderful to see our Year 5/6 students engaging with students from other schools at the Robo-Gals incursions at John Monash Science School (JMSS).  These activities give our students a great chance to see the learning that is conducted at a local Secondary School, as well as interact with students from our neighbouring schools and build connections that make the transition to Year 7 less daunting.

Sue and I have been fortunate enough to take four of our Clayton High Achievers to JMSS for the Little Scientists program, allowing them to experience the Year 7 science curriculum and become familiar with one of our local secondary schools. These students were nominated by their teachers based on demonstrating the potential for high achievement in Mathematics and Science. Nubaid, Khadijah, Keenan and Gio have completed challenges related to physics and chemistry.

District Cross Country

We had nearly 50 students represent Clayton North PS at the district cross-country event on the 6th of May. Our students raced over 2km or 3km against students from 7 other schools. We are so proud of the effort, resilience, determination, teamwork and care our students demonstrated on the day. For many, this was the longest distance they had ever run and it was a challenge. We are proud to say that three of our students placed in the top 10 of their race and will now represent CNPS at the Monash Waverly Division cross country on the 29th of May. Congratulations and good luck, Khadijah, Abdulrahman and Elias!

Our staff and students have been running fantastic programs this term such as:

Prep Like A Pro with Manpreet for Kinder to Prep transitions.

Plant and seedling sales from the garden with Kathie.

Graduation fundraising activities with Radhika, Ramisa and the school leaders.

Dr Cranky's Bicycle Hospital donated bikes to our families.

Our Japanese incursion was provided by Wasabi Kids and Aiko Sensei

Geraldine's Lunchtime Conversation Club for parents has been a very popular addition to our school.

It was wonderful to have nearly 30 new families attend the meet-and-greet session hosted by Sue and our school leadership team.

And of course, our very special Cultural Diversity Day celebration with the ever-popular shared lunch.

A reminder to parents that the optional assessments provided by ICAS are open for registration until the 15th of July (School code: RNK714).

The first assessments will begin in August at School.
