Visual Art  – Term 2

The Art room has been full of ENERGY this term! We have had Action Painting by Seniors inspired by Jackson Pollock and painting to the rhythm of music inspired by Wassily Kandinsky. These pieces were great fun to make and are currently being collaged into an exciting artwork using radial design and the art element of contrast. Seniors have also been examining the features of Self Portraiture through the use of photography and digital drawing.

Juniors have been making action poses and examining how the body bends and moves. Using Alberto Giacometti’s sculptures as inspiration they are now making their own action figures. These were made by bending and twisting pipe cleaners and then changing the texture to create a metal effect. Students wrapped the figures in aluminium foil and then placed them into the action pose of their choice.

Juniors have also been drawing and painting lines to create movement and pattern in their underwater fish drawings inspired by the artist Paul Klee.

Our new Senior School Artwork is complete with a permanent Cross created from each student’s design based on “In The Light Of Christ”. These were reduced in size and glued to a glass pebble then arranged and glued down onto acrylic sheet in the form of a cross. Students were also given their own personal pebble.

We have also had lots of Senior Students participating in Art Club on Tuesdays Lunchtime. Students have chosen a media of their choice and created art pieces to extend their skills.

They have chosen from watercolour painting, chalk pastel drawing, observation drawing, splatter painting and more.

ANDISON MOLE

It is with great pleasure to announce that Andi has made the U12's School Victorian Basketball Team.  After weeks of trialling out, initially out of 60 girls, Andi made the team of 10 girls.

We are so proud of your hard work and tenacity to never give up.  I believe it's the first time a St Francis  De Sales student has made the team to represent the U12's School Sport Victoria Team of any sport.  Andi you're not only an inspiration to all the students at St Francis De Sales Primary School but also a great role model.

Congratulations on your achievement and we are very proud of you!
