Year 1 Update

Upcoming Learning -Term 2, Weeks 6 & 7

During the next fortnight, Year 1 students will be undertaking learning in the following areas:

Reading	Students continue to engage in literacy activities using the Little Learners Love Literacy program. The focus texts for our reading are relating to the community. Our digraph focus is the long ‘o’ including o-e, oa, ow and o
Writing	Students are learning about factual descriptions and using FANBOYS to add conjunctions into their informative writing. They continue to work on their handwriting daily.
Maths	Students are learning about Location and Chance. They are revising how to give directions using positional language, and building a zoo to practise giving direction to a partner.
Inquiry	Students are exploring communities including their classroom, school, community groups they belong to and community helpers. We are using an app on the iPads that allows students to pretend to work in a doctors surgery.
SEL	Students are interacting with our Behaviour Matrix and the new behaviours and consequences system. We are also exploring the idea that labels are for jars and not for people.
